I started reading this topic and wow, talk about a disgusting display by both Flames and Avalanche fans. Cheering for your team to lose is despicable and there is no place for it in the world of competitive sports. Anyone cheering against their own team is a pathetic excuse for a sports fan.

To any lingering Avs fans: thanks for the fun evening! It's not like anything entertaining was on tv tonight

So....I'm here to attempt to poach you, remember?

So, here's what I can offer:

1) My services as a Moderator of the Colorado Avalanche board

2) Some place warm. A place where the beer flows like wine and beautiful women instinctively flock to like the salmon of capastrano!

3) WAAAY too many pop culture/Arrested Development/Walking Dead/Other TV Shows references...many of which are brought to you by myself or another Mod.

4) The knowledge/fact that I am a Beatles Guru/Expert (can't turn it off!)

5) Your own parking space (provided it's in your garage)

So....do we have a deal?

I sincerely hope that you don't actually believe that we legitimately WANT and enjoy our teams losing?

I was talking with a Flames Mod tonight, and I had mentioned that this gimmick actually seemed to liven up BOTH the Avs and Flames GDT's tonight. Losing as much as the Avs have has really made our own GDT's depressing.

There's no harm in humor, especially when both fanbases were seemingly down for it tonight.

Definitely. Let's face it, neither team has a lot to cheer for right now. I think anything to lighten the mood is welcomed.

Your picture had me wondering. What was with the woman behind the coaches tonight, she looked like an escort.

Yeah, it was a great time watching both GDT's, had some great laughs through the game, and was really happy to see both fan bases enjoy themselves, when there isn't much to be happy about, right now.

after hearing Oiler fans cheer for their team to lose for top picks over the past 3 years I put nothing by any fan base. In fact I see alot of Flames fans that are cheering for the team to lose and have been for a while, so why wouldn't I expect the same from others?

I understand the mentality where you accept losing, but I think there is a fine line between accepting that the teams is horrible & trying to find bright spots and encouraging losing. But too many fans cross over to the dark side and end up encouraging losing and talking about it like it's the only solution.

I would tend to agree with you. Not all but most on this board have been actively hoping we lose and while I get the logic behind "if we are going to suck we might as well get the best prospect we can" it seems very hypocritical from a fan base that mocked the oilers for hoping for the same only a few years ago.

The Avs fans were more of making a joke of it, not to mention many are hoping another poor season means they clean house management and coaching staff. But it is rather sad to see 2 fan bases generally indifferent to how there team plays.

Well I like using the band aid analogy. Do you rip it off fast or slowly nudge it off?

I think most men (and posters on this board) prefer the rip off fast, have higher pain but shortens the duration. Versus the slowly peeling which has less pain but longer duration.

In my mind, cheering to lose is hoping your team rips off the band aid quickly.

There's no choice left but to laugh at our own team. We go round and round pointing out the problems but until management does anything we've got nothing left to talk about in all honesty.

If we're going to suck, we'd rather at least get something positive out of it as fans. But you can bet your ass 99.9% of us would have fired Sacco twenty games ago if we could have.

I'm assuming by now you've figured it's a joke.
While I wasn't part of this, the sarcasm levels are off the charts.

I bet you're a blast at parties.

Almost every post was sarcasm, get off your high horse.

5 home games + 1 vs the oilers I just want to win what we can of those.
Would not be upset at all if we finished the season with 4 road losses though.
