There is a poll at the end of the article, Dorian2. You can vote and then view the results. So far acquire Anderson/Andersen is leading the way ahead of Niemi and Lehtonen (separate options that are tied).

Why on Earth would Dubnyk come back here? He's not coming here and if he does expect a massive downturn in his play. He's playing on real NHL teams now with good goalie coaching. My bet is he stays in Minnesota.

Edmonton, Alberta,
craig anderson is the obvious choice, a veteran bonafide starting No. 1 goalie who is also use to getting lots of shots. He has a decent contract, and should be managements first choice in the offseason. If Andrew Hammond gets the Sens into the playoffs there will a great opportunity for the oilers to trade for Anderson who may be deemed expendable then.
Anti Niemi should not be considered, yes he won a stanley cup but the hawks won there 2 cups with 4 different goalies, and Niemi was hardly the difference, and in fact in the finals against the flyers it was last shot wins, with him and Liegton. He is use to being on a stronger defensive team and he may not do well in this environment,

I wouldn't overplay for any goalie over 32. If we can get a young goalies who is at least somewhat proven, that would be better. So I say no to Ward, Andersen etc.

This is pretty timely

I want Anderson.

We can set our team up for years with the right moves this year . Anderson has proven he can excel on a weak defensive team . A goalie like Anderson can help develop our young D . If they make a mistake it does not always end up in the back off the net causing young players to lose confidence . With our 1st we can draft Strome a big 2 way centre who just scored 129 points as a 17 year old .Kylington has dropped to 24 th OA so we should be able to grab him with the Pens pick . He a right handed D we need . Fills 3 big holes for us . We may be able to add a player or 2 from a cap strap team , but if all Mac T did was to draft these 2 players and add Anderson i would be happy .

I'd say no to any goalie that is not already a finished article with this team - no goalie 'with potential' will reach it from being shelled behind the D.

If I'm MacT, I kick the tires on Niemi - if he's not interested or wants too much, I go for Anderson. I think Lehtonen is talented, but I don't think he rebounds with the Oil.

Does anyone know what the deal with Markstrom and waivers out in Van?

IIRC, he was an emergency call up, but if he plays a certain amount games he'd still have to go through waivers. He was having a pretty good year in the AHL, might be worth the gamble considering next year is almost destined for a bottom 10 finish.

Dubnyk

Problem solved

Dubnyk will never return to the Oilers. For 2 reasons.

If I was DD and MacT called, I'd tell him to go shove it up his rear end.

MacT would never bring him back. That would be admitting a mistake. The OBC never admits mistakes. They know too much about winning doncha know...

I bet you that the Wild would trade him to the Oilers for Hendricks. A lot of Oilers fans absolutely loved that trade.

Dubnyk's been the best goalie in the NHL since he went to the Wild. Why would they trade that for a 3rd line plugger?

I don't get some Oiler fans.... :shakehead

Why on earth would Edmonton want Dubnyk back. He sucked millions of dollars from this team and refused to listen to coaching. He hit rock bottom in the league and burned through four organizations in twelve months after leaving the team.

The Canadiens had their fourth string goalie on the bench last year and Doobie still wasn't considered worthy.

Doobie has played out of his mind for the Wild. He has done so knowing that it was his last chance in the league.

Minnesota will foolishly give him four years with an aav of 3M+. Minnesota is the only place he can repeat his success. Not very likely that will happen over the duration of a four year contract.

If memory serves me correctly, Jacob Markstrom and Robin Lehner were teammates on the Swedish WJC team that Canada beat in the Gold Medal game(exact year escapes my memory)

And the Swedes had great goaltending that year. Be interesting to see the Oilers bring in both of these guys in the offseason and let them fight it out for the backup/1B job. I think Scrivens has to stay for one more year though to help bridge the gap. I don't think he will ever be a dominant #1 goalie in the league, but he certainly has held his own over the past year as the starting goalie on a poor defensive team. Sure his save % hasn't been where we would like it this year, but I think behind a better defensive club it would climb back to where it was last year. Can he lead us to the playoffs though? I have my doubts.

I'd move Scrivens. It's clear the team won't play for him

I think Scrivens is a great goalie who gets left out to dry on a nightly basis by our defenceman.

With that being said, Ramo.

His defense must be teaching him how to hug a post and drop to your knees in front of a rising puck.

It seems our new goalie coach is no better than the last. Brodeur want a coaching gig yet? Or did he get one already?

He has allowed 10 goals in 2 games, 7 goals were God awful. He isn't great. He is a mediocre backup at best

Draft Jordan Papirny in the draft if you want to try and set up for the future. Brossoit may end up being an option too.

Never underestimate how much fans of other teams love telling Oiler fans how to fix their team. Usually Step 1 involves the Oilers getting bent over by their favourite team in a trade for high picks or Taylor Hall

Like the Ottawa board where they want the PIT 1st and Marincin for Craig Anderson? :shakehead

I do agree that Anderson could be an improvement for a few years here until Brossoit is ready. However, that proposed trade is insanely lopsided in favour of the Senators.

I'd offer one of our 2nd round picks for Anderson. If no, then I'd go sign Ramo or Neuvirith and trade the same 2nd to the Rangers for Cam Talbot.

Of course Dubnyk in his right mind would not come back to a team that abandoned him. Some Oiler fans are delusional. That's what constant losing does to you.

I don't like Anderson if it costs a lot. He's inconsistent and now on a bit of a downside. Oilers have to fix up their overall defensive play as any goalie left wide open will not have a chance.

Whoever is the goalie we get, I just hope we aim high. Let's give up something substantial and get someone will good odds to be starter material. Handing out 3rd and 4th round picks for back up goalies is not working for us, and it is apparent we're trying to outsmart the system and find the next Kiprusoff. Our org does not have the smarts or connections to do that.
