The first line is fine right now IMO, we need to upgrade our 2nd line big-time going forward.
No the top line could use an significant upgrade and will need one (or the blue line will need 2) for them to be a contender.
You don't know that IMO it's unknown based on a lot of different factors. Our defense doesn't exactly help out top-line players either. If you add Spezza then add two top 4 defenseman hypothetically the +/- would change for instance. Adding a completely different dynamic to our second line could take off heat from the first line and allow them to play a pure offense game etc.
The defense needs to be better but not all about adding players. There is no reason why the guys we have can't play better defense.
NONE. A better defensive structure and players willing to buy into it would improve the Leafs defense greatly, and make dropping 1-2-3 better defensive players onto the team more impactful additions.
