Listen, this is for us. We don't have a lot. We don't necessarily deserve what we have but, still, this is for us Abbotsford dwellers. Unless you live in Abbotsford, you probably can't watch this.

Vancouver Canucks

Beauvillier-Studnicka-Kuzmenko
Di Guiseppe-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-Suter-Garland
Åman-Blueger-Höglander

Hughes-McWard
Soucy-Hronek
Cole-Myers

Seattle Kraken

TBD

Not having this game streamed (never mind on TV) is embarrassing.

4-day breaks in preseason are awesome. Totally worth it so we can get to watch hockey in late June.

Abbotsford pushed most of its gang violence to the west and replaced it with people angry over everything standing on overpasses complaining.

It’s got a leg up on Chilliwack tho, where the main export is stepdads.

I’ve really missed you folks:laugh:.

Hope you all had a great summer with your families and are enjoying the Fall.

Thanks for the laughs & may we have a Playoff Bound Team to cheer for this season.

They are somewhat addressing the major issue, that the HWY goes from 3 lanes in Abby to 2 lanes in Langley. But it going to be years. I only drive into Vcr 5 - 6 times a year, and make sure I do it when there won't be too much traffic.

That said, Wed I have to go to a specialist down town. Wheeee.

Oh, I don't mean that, as that one there's at least an explanation for the slowdown. I mean the totally nondescript mostly straight stretch through the Sumas where it always just slows way the f*** down and everyone starts surging and weaving and tailgating and doing weird stuff to make it worse and then it always opens back up for no reason at all as soon as you pass the overhead electronic sign east of Whatcom only to become a mess again where you're talking about west of HWY 11 or whatever number that is when everyone manages to forget that the far right lane is going to disappear and thinks that they've found the loophole in the matrix and tries to pass everyone over there and then have to cram themselves back over when it turns out that, yep, the lane still ends eventually.

Somehow one of the only handful of times for me that traffic has kept moving at normal pace through that Sumas stretch it was an absolutely wild storm, at night, where it was blowing a billion miles an hour and the rain was coming in sheets, and somehow that was the time where everyone just decided not to slow down at all and keep driving like 160 in their 70' tall Ram 3500s with wheels spaced out to render their mudflaps useless and misaligned f***ing neutron stars jury-rigged into the space their headlights used to inhabit.

I genuinely consider moving to Abbotsford just so I don't have to drive through Abbotsford anymore.

It also has the number one inexplicable perpetual highway traffic slowdown spot in all of BC.
When I am returning from a long weekend away and I know I am going to have to go through that soul crushing stretch, years ago now I made the switch to taking the Lougheed instead. I find it much more palatable.

Yeah, I often take the Lougheed instead as well, although if there's an accident at the wrong point you better hope you've packed a sleeping bag.

Yes, I know it only too well. Went the tangerine turd got elected, my wife had us contact a realtor the next day. When trying to decide. where in Canada we were going to live, Chilliwack was pretty much my first choice.

Can get to Vcr fairly easily if you avoid congestion times. Most of my friends live on the north shore, and we can usually get there in an hour. My daughter is a lawyer working downtown.

Have friends and my other daughter living in the interior. Can be to Peachland in 2 1/2 hours. Then have to drive through the disaster that is Kelowna traffic in west Kelowna.

Can get around Chilliwack fairly easily, has good pickleball, great hockey and golf. (My life runs around pickleball, hockey and golf 5 - 6 times a week).

Absolutely no regrets on choosing Chilliwack. (slight exaggeration).

So glad this awful pre season continues to drag on....hopefully we can push back the start of the season to November soon and finish August 15th when im on holidays and couldn't care less

And no coverage .......unreal. Nothing like giving a fanbase that has already so much apathy after getting run into the ground more reasons to be disconnected

It's usually caused by a whole bunch of drivers becoming incapacitated by vaccine side effects at once. This happens every day.

I can't believe they're continuing with this McWard nonsense for the entire preseason while looking at no other options for Hughes.

Fully possible that they execute another trade after the pre-season games have been completed but before the season starts like with the Dickinson for Stillman trade.

For sure, but to not even look at Hughes-Soucy for a game to see if it works is to me negligent.

This feels like the Flanders 'We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!' kind of thing.

They have had a few shifts in-game together but nothing substantial.

I just don't get it.

The mantra after last season was we needed a better partner for Hughes than Schenn. We picked up two guys who are LHD but have a history of playing on the right side, who seemed like reasonable Hughes options.

Instead, we've ignored that completely and just nonsensically spent the entire preseason playing an unready prospect with 5 career pro games in that spot. And they haven't even played well together. And there is no way that McWard should be on a high-leverage pairing or that Hughes should be wasted as a soft-minute babysitter.

The way they've built this season around setting up Cole McWard to succeed isn't really any different than Travis Green's 2021 Nic Petan mission. It's just dumb, and it's forcing something that isn't working and makes no sense.

It was a nice story for 2.5 preseason games and I keep telling myself there’s no way they actually start the season like this… right? But they keep doing it.

It would make sense if they’re actively shopping someone like Hoglander/Podkolzin/Beauvillier/Garland for a RHD partner, but man they legitimately can’t start the year with McWard.

Almost like Tocchet is just another coach and all of this "the process will be infinitely better stuff" was maybe a bit wishful?

That, or this is a clear message to management that there is a giant, gaping hole on the top pair and it needs to be sorted out, and until it is, the 5-game rookie is the best option available.
