People that start Islander threads don't mention Tavares or the Leafs. Leaf fans take care of that themselves by swarming in with jelly dirt. Facts.

And I don't care how much attention they get (even though it seems like a ton), just enjoying this season.

There was a thread about the Islanders goalies. It didn’t mention the Leafs or Tavares and it barely went three pages.

Perhaps Tavares is not the player that elevates his teammates and his team? IE. Bailey and Lee are doing just fine. As well as the entire Isles team. As part of a team with better players as he was on Team Canada, he is successful. As the best player on the team he is not. Sort of reminds me of Kessel. Good player, but not a franchise caliber one. The Isles do not miss him, infact they are better without him. Same can be said for Kessel when he left the Leafs. Shremp was spot on in his analysis.

Kessel left the Leafs and immediately won two cups. He was never the problem.

So??? lol please. This thread will be locked in 3,2,1

So? You said every thread about the Islanders was swarming with jealous Leaf fans. I pointed out correctly that when you don’t attack the Leafs we don’t really bother with your threads.

He was never good enough to ever elevate the Leafs as Tavares was never able to elevate the Isles. As long as they are the 3rd best fwd on a team, they will be effective. Kessel at 8M with 1.2 retained by the Leafs thanks to Shanhan, is fine. Pajamas at 11M for 7 years? Yikes. Isles are happy to be a better team without him, and with 11M + to spend elsewhere on already on a 35-17-6 team by addition by subtraction are looking good now and in the future.

Because what could a Leaf fan possibly say about the Isles having their goalies 1st and 2nd in both GA and SV%?

But still, a Leaf fan (Pi) couldn't resist lol...

Another stat that might surprise you.

In 13/14 Tavares was injured during the Olympics and here was the Islanders record with him and without him...

With him
22-30-8

Without him
10-7-3

So the fact remains that, team>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>individual.

JT was holding the team back all these years, not the other way around if we go by numbers.

This is no different than a liar who thinks everyone is a liar
This is no different than a lazy person thinking everyone else is lazy

He probably saw JT doing something he sees himself doing and assumes JT is exactly like him. Honestly if you pretend the article is talking about Schremp you would say that is a good description of him

Nonsense from a nobody

Then again you don't know that so you could be talking out of your butt. And what if it's indeed the case where a selfish player can smell another one a mile away? it's possible. look at Silence of the Lamb, baby.

So one person pointing out that we’ve seen this before is now Leaf fans wanting the Islanders to fail?

Go look at any Leaf thread if you want to see what it actually looks like when people want you to fail.

If I'm the Isles front office I'm phoning Shrimp and telling him to shut up.

The isles are doing good this year, the last thing they need is some idiot derailing them from their momentum with a ton of high school drama ****.

If I am the Isles front office. I don't care. Trotz and Lou have the right character guys and a superior Captain now in Anders Lee to keep them on track.

The Islanders are not a better team without Tavares. I realize you found a new home to continue your petty crusade but in what world does a team get better when an elite number one center leaves?

Maybe there's a reason why most fans want to see the Leafs fail...

"Leadership" in general is overstated.

Look no further than Steve Yzerman. Tons of critics who for years said he wasn't enough of a leader to get it done. The instant the Wings won, he was instantly praised for his incredible leadership skills by those same talking heads...

Basically, reporters take the result and THEN construct the story afterwards.

But Yzerman did change a lot of his game when Bowman got him under his wing, though. He was a skilled perimenter player and he learned to get his nose dirty and play with an edge. Same thing happened with Joe Sakic in Quebec whereas he was a skilled guy who collected his 100 points a season but he lacked drive and when the Nords traded for Wendel Clark, Joe saw what someone with a killer instinct was, what it took to win. And he never was the same player after that, I saw this up close, his will to win was greater, he was living everything on the ice each of his presence and that made him the great player he was with the Avs. A lot people say the Nords lost that trade and most of the elements are there supporting this argument, Sundin is a futur HOF and so forth but people have no idea how great this was for Sakic and probably helped the Avs won all these cups.

Dude, this is crazy.

With J.T. we would have been even better. I find it hard to believe otherwise.

That’s a ludicrously small sample size. You’re making a lot of assumptions on not nearly enough data.

That's on the Isles and noone else.
Maybe if they had done something in the previous 9 years to not be a dumpster fire. But once again... that's management's fault and not JTs
This is yet another myth about the Isles. They were not "a dumpster fire" in the previous 9 years. They slowly rebuilt around Tavares, started making playoffs consistently (3 in 4), even won a round.

It's their inability to make the all-important next step (due to the front office being not up to the task) that held them back. It's been somewhat similar to what Buffalo is experiencing today: pieces are there, but the leadership is not.

Finally, their new owners realized the root of the problem, got Lamoriello, got Trotz, and the Isles are back on track.

Having a slight idea about the subject you're talking about is what separates smart people from ... eh, those happily typing "from best to Islanders", "cap hell in 3 years", "Tavares unleashed", "9 years dumpster fire", etc.
