That's what I have previously used as an eventual comparison for Pettersson's season in 17-18.

Same. A top-5 pick who has already played against men for two years should be scoring at close to a point-per-game pace in the SEL, and we should see something comparable to Backstrom's year. Anything less than that would be disappointing. Excellent news that he's off to a good start.

Just wish we had an established 50g 100pt player for him to play along side with to ease him into the league.

I think they're referring to a comparable for him in the SHL this year, not for his first NHL season.

If pettersson can go PPG in d+1 it is sensational. He is not going to bust with that pedigree.

It's not sensational it would be one of greatest D+1 season of all time.

Mats Sundin
Forsberg
The sedins
Backstrom
Zetterberg
Alfredsson
Nylander
None of these guys were PPG in the SHL D+1 season.

Retired Canuck Naslund holds the record. 40 in 39

Wouldn't Svechnikov look so good next to Pettersson?
Big fast, natural goal scoring power winger... would perfectly fit a silkysmooth, deft, creative centerman like Pettersson.

Horvat and Boeser on the 2nd line.

Could be the foundation of something good if! a boy a can dream :)

no more forwards, Canucks need to seriously invest into drafting high caliber defence man.

If we have the 2nd overall pick and pass on Svechnikov for a defenceman...
I don't even know what to say, but it'd be absolutely brutal. This team has already been burned by taking a Dman over a winger instead of drafting BPA.

Here is lots of benchmarks for U20 players in the SHL. I still can't get over how stupid that Forsling Trade was. :thumbd::thumbd::thumbd:

It might be 'sensational' in a vacuum or sensational for a #25 overall pick, but it would be 'solid' for a top-5 pick.

A top-5 pick should be a sensational player expected to throw up sensational results. Anything less than that would be disappointing.

People have been so conditioned by the bad Virtanen/Juolevi picks that expectations are laughably low.

Nice steal off the forecheck and snipe upstairs. Amazing start for Elias.

Always draft Hockey Sense, Skill, and more Hockey sense.

Don't ever, ever, ever draft another Virtanen with a top pick in your life.

Jensen, man. I thought he was the next Jeff Carter. With that "heavy" wrist shot. I miss how in tune I was with this teams ENTIRE system when we were winning. Don't get me wrong, I still am; but I mean I watched any content available for every player in the system.

E-Pet was my guy from about April on last year, first time I got my pick in years. Probably since Shinkaruk tbh.

Go E-Pet.
