Needs more cap dumps and AHL players, how about adding Zack Kassian and keep adding?

1. There is only 1 cap dump and cap space management is a key part of any trade
2. No AHLers are in this bunch.
3. Kassian is neither a cap dump nor an AHLer
4. This proposal in general is awful regardless of your criticisms. Oiler fans know that we don't have the pieces to get Eichel.

You really think that is the best package the Sabres would get if they made Eichel available?

Great way to balance a team . Add another high price forward and forget about building a proper 3 and 4 line , adding a goalie and getting a true top D . Any way Buffalo would decline it a joke of an offer .

I actually thing Buffalo would have to add tbh.

I don't Eichel's best players have been Reinhart and Skinner. Drai has been amazing no doubt but he still benefits a lot from McDavid. Primarily because of the PP, but also because even though they are on separate lines, the coach finds lots of reasons to have them out together.

With that said, Oilers don't make this deal. Why? Because Drai already works. He fits, he has chemistry with McDavid. Eichel might give them a slight increase in production but the risk and the higher cap hit negate that benefit.

Sabres are better off targeting a team like the Flames who want a real #1 C and have had rumblings of change. They could score a pretty nice package of players and futures for Eichel. One of their promising young D, Monahan, prospects and picks most likely.

Even so, there would likely be better offers for Eichel if he was available. And he doesn't make sense as a target for Edmonton. They are the 1 team in the league that doesn't need a u25 elite 1C, they have 2 of them.

Why is Edmonton trading Draisaitl for a player that's similar to Draisaitl?

I think the point is that these two are the only two pieces Buffalo would be interested in if they were to trade Eichel to Edmonton. McDavid wont be moved, so that leaves only Drai. If he's not included there's no deal to be made. Easy, right?

If they decide to restart the rebuild they clearly won’t be getting a player better than Eichel and on a better contract.
