Why would the Oilers include the better players for the lesser player?

Because it's the jumping off point for an actual trade.

If Eichel is included one of Drai or McDavid has to be involved coming back. That's the startpoint and +/- from there.

"Here's 3 quarters, 2 dimes, and a nickel for your loonie." It doesn't work like that.

Edmonton doesn't have the pieces for an Eichel trade. They won't move Draisaitl or McDavid and Buffalo isn't interested in mid to late 1st round picks and prospects that aren't any better than what they already have in their system.

Great way to balance a team . Add another high price forward and forget about building a proper 3 and 4 line , adding a goalie and getting a true top D . Any way Buffalo would decline it a joke of an offer .

Swap out Jones for Yamamoto and you may get a response.

Also, why does Edmonton need another 1C?
