Can't really blame him. If he was on a team that can't make it past the first or second round that'd be treating him better instead of screwing around, he'd be fine by now.

This has nothing to do with Eichel but still you can't resist kicking a team and fan base wile they are down, nice troll
I disagree. Buffalo's treatment of Eichel is a big contributing factor to the shit show. Without the Eichel drama, Buffalo would barely get a mention on HF

Nice spin but it was obvious what you were saying there..
Yes it is... because of the Eichel drama Buffalo is a team that most young players and UFAs for that matter, are better off avoiding.
Admit it... this Eichel drama isn't doing Buffalo's reputation much good and its a smart move by Power to avoid signing an ELC with the club this season.
This whole episode is going to hurt Buffalo just as much as its hurting Eichel. Be honest and admit it.

Power wanted to go back before the lottery.

The Eichel situation has nothing to do with Power choosing to go back to Michigan where they will be a wagon, he will get another WJC run with Team Canada, and hopefully a Frozen Four with the Wolverines.

Makar, Quinn Hughes, and other top D also went back for one more year in school after being drafted.

I bet he signs his ELC after Michigan’s season is over.

He's going back to michigan for 1 year and sign the ELC after that. No college player will wait several years to avoid signing with a specific team.

Cal Petersen refused to sign with Buffalo, and signed with LA as a free agent.

This is the best for the Sabres and power. it allows power to mature for 1 more year in a solid program playing big minutes.
For the Sabres it allows them to have their new Core going Fwd establish themselves and set the tone. Guys like Dahlin, Cozens, Middlestadt, joker, etc etc.
It’s the smartest decision development wise for all parties involved. Plus, why bring in any guys with high end upside while they are still so young and green. No Need to Rush Rosen, Power, Quinn etc while Buffalo has at least a 2-3 year transition going on. Dragging young talented players into the locker room with this Eichel soap opera going on is the worst idea. Hopefully he gets traded soon so the sabres can trade Eichel soon so they can start slowly integrating the youngsters they have with the return of what Eichel brings back.
It was very smart to keep Granato on, the team actually played with a pulse and started playing competitive hockey instead of rolling over. They looked like a different team at the end of the season.
That is job 1 when creating a culture/morale shift, keep competing no matter what. It’s ok to lose as long as you bust your ass and give it your all. Not this roll over and tank shit

Shoulda got one game in
Exhibit A your honor: Adam Fox

Adam Fox wasn't expected to be as good as he's been. He was expected to eventually be a top 4 dman, not a Norris Trophy winning one during his second season. And most NYR fans would probably agree that they didn't expect him to be this good, this fast.

Regardless, Power has been saying since before the draft that he was going back to Michigan, because he has unfinished business there (the campus wasn't packed with students, he didn't get a chance to win a national championship), and has nothing to do with being drafted by Buffalo. Had the Wolverines been able to play for one and won (yay Covid!), he probably would have signed (or if the NCAA wasn't against the idea of college kids making money while they make shitloads of money of those kids).

I don’t think anyone as highly regarded as Power would do this though. You might stick it out for an additional season but he’s going to wait 4 years to go pro? Keeping the clock from running that long would really hurt his career earnings.

Fox wasn’t a 1st overall pick and wasn’t potentially coming into the league at 19

Power said he was "leaning" towards going back. Thats not a definite "I'm going back"

It was really smart for Power to stay in Michigan this season most Sabres fans were hoping he would.. You also have to realize that most Sabres fans agree with the Sabres management that this was the the only way forward by clearing the deck of all the players that were here for the wrong reasons, The Bills turned it around this way and set the standard of what kind of athlete they want in their system.. Adams is following their lead..

He needs to go back and prove he's healthy. Then Adams will get the offers that make moving him worthwhile. Win-win for both sides maybe?
Right now with the shit offers Buffalo is getting for a (possibly damaged) superstar level talent they should tell them all to get f***ed. I hope Adams has the toughness to deal with this shitty situation without panicking. Buffalo doesn't deserve this shit...

Eichel won't play for a good chunk of this season, what with needing surgery. And then his NMC kicks in next season, which takes away pretty much all that supposed control Buffalo has.

If he wants a trade that bad he will take what Buffalo offers him, Eichel kinda blew his control letting the cat out of the bag of how much he wants to go..

Idk about that... I think the player and organization are both screwed. The best option for Buffalo is to probably let him get the surgery and cross your fingers. However, that’s without knowing the insurance implications here and Eichel is obviously owed a lot of money.

As a Sabres fan to a fan of someone of a team that's not the Sabres, thank you for actually agreeing with what we've been saying with "the Sabres were actually watchable at the end of the season".

Sure, the team as a whole is probably gonna get beat up this season. There's definitely going to be a lot of losses this season. There's more NHL potential than NHL talent this season. But if the team is routinely losing by a goal (not counting any empty net goals allowed), it's better to lose that way than the 4-5 goals like most people are predicting is gonna happen.

This. The MO on Fox was that he was solid and likely ready to set into top 4 duty. We all knew he would likely be a solid addition, but def not a Norris winner or even in the running for it this early in his career.
After his success the first year, it made it possible for the rangers to make an easy choice on the ADA situation. Fox has a solid first year and exploded in his 2nd. By the time the ADA situation occurred Fox was already running the Point on the PP and playing amazing 2 way hockey
