at backline, more likely NYR seeking short-term vet LHD
as their deep D pipeline of young ELC pros
(Miller, Lundkvist, Schneider, Robertson, ZJones, Hajek, Skinner, Reunanen) get NHL ready and sort themselves out

also w Bread, Trouba, Kreider contracts and many guys needing extensions now or next
(Buch, Zib, Fox, Shesty, Chytil, Kakko, ...)
Eichel hit and term are tough in Flat Cap NHL

the neck injury and acquisition cost add more dis-incentive...

Avs were briefly mentioned, but someone said the $ would be tough (Kadri +?)

The Rangers acquiring Eichel would basically destroy their cap structure and cause them to lose multiple young assets in addition to what they pay for Eichel.

It's why the Rangers acquiring him is a bad idea.

the most surprising name heard recently, from a recognizable source, was Vegas

i do think the Hawks may indeed be in it, but their best young pieces are already part of their core, and there are rumors their looking at SJones first

also Nash has Cap concerns, but Poile has a history of adding top talent players when become available

Do we need another Eichel mega thread before the expansion draft? I feel like if anything is gonna happen, it would've already did. Draft day is the next most likely day. All these youtube rumor mills don't need to be echoed in here.

Just some crazy ideas to get things started in this thread.

Eichel to Minnesota for Rossi + Boldy + both their late 1sts in 2021.
Minnesota going 'All In' for cup.

Eichel to Montreal for Guhle + Kotkaniemi + 1st + 1st.
Buffalo gets a 3C/2C in Kotkaniemi, they get to have a Guhle brother again and two first round picks.
Montreal now has Eichel and Suzuki as its top 6 Centers with its eyes set on going all the way in 2022.

Eichel to Colorado for Newhook + Kadri + Erik Johnson.
Colorado becomes MacKinnon and Eichel down the middle in their all in bid for the cup.

Eichel to Anaheim, Rakell + Lindholm to Toronto in a 3 team trade:
Buffalo receives: Robertson + Amirov + Dostal + Steel + 1st & 2nd from Toronto from Toronto
Toronto receives: Rakell with 50% retention and Lindholm with 50% retention
Anaheim receives: Eichel + 1st from Toronto
Leafs going all in for the cup.

I would assume SJ is at least inquiring. The issue is they really don’t have the pieces unless BUF would consider something like Timo+Labanc+7th overall+Merkley+Simek (cap) for Eichel+Skinner. Even then I don’t think the cap works for SJ.

He's available because he wants out. Injured or not. Sabres can choose to say no, but no organization does that. It's better to get something back now than keep an unhappy player. That doesn't mean he goes for peanuts, but Injured or not, Eichel wants out of Buffalo and I can't see Buffalo keeping him.

Good point, wasn't paying attention to the value on Lindholm and Rakell.
The scenario is the Ducks are unable to re-sign both.

Updated it to include the Ducks get to keep Comtois:
Buffalo receives: Robertson + Amirov + Dostal + Steel + 1st & 2nd from Toronto
Toronto receives: Rakell with 50% retention and Lindholm with 50% retention
Anaheim receives: Eichel + 1st from Toronto.
Leafs going all in for the cup. Anaheim gets Eichel while keeping #3 overall, Comtois, Zegras and Drysdale.

There are substantially more Sabres fans who want unreasonable returns than fans of teams who are only offering scraps for Eichel.
