The isles need an NHL dman and i dont care about a 3rd round pick. Solid depth move but garth needs to improve the team more

Friend helping a friend. No more no less. Payback for Barzal since Reinhart was such a bust.

Davidson had been playing extremely well, but there was just no room long-term for a #6/7 making $1.4M+. Decent return for someone the Oilers weren't going to sign anyway.

That is brutal for NYI.

Not just because they could have had him for free earlier in the year but he was on waviers for a reason he is not a good defenseman. I know they are desperate for help there but for a 3rd rounder you should get a hell of a lot better guy than Davidson.

I like it. Chia fleeces Garth on this one though. They got a 3rd for a guy they got off waivers not too long ago

Davidson has been very good for us btw

Eh, meh.

He's been fine in a bottom pairing role on a bad team. On a good team he isn't an every day player.

This is found money for Chiarelli. From a waiver pickup to a 3rd round pick in a couple months.

For some reason Oiler fans love this player...

Wow, has he been serviceable for the Oilers? He had an atrocious camp in Montreal (but then again who didn't?)

He's been great for his role imo. Us Oilers fans will always have a soft spot for the guy. He also loves playing here, evidently gained loads of confidence with us picking him up for a second shot. Hopefully he'll have a third stint here, and a more prolongued one than the last two.

On a side note, this is how you kill team chemistry. Pick up magic beans for good roster players who are well-liked.

Chia executing solid asset management, what a time....not a terrible deal for NYI but a 3rd for a waiver wire guy...

He shouldn't have been in the waivers in the first place but a 3rd is still quite an overpayment. Snow trying to make up a bit for fleecing Chia to re-gain Chia's trust?

Seems like pretty good value for the Oilers considering he was a recent waiver pick up.

Yup. While back it would've been ridiculous to say Davidson gets you a 3rd (and to be honest, it still kind of is).

But he's been decent for a while and it's the trade deadline. Isles are desperate for help on D and Chiarelli took advantage.

Im just going to say it, good job Peter Chiarelli !

How could the Isles have had him for free? Oilers surely were ahead of them on the waiver wire.

I agree with this, but it's still a bit of an overpayment. Maybe this means that it is a still a seller's market for Dmen, even if it will be a buyer's market for forwards

On one hand, this seems like a lot for a guy like Davidson.

On the other hand, Chiarelli's track record with the Isles suggests ridiculously bad things for Edmonton.
