Every year we blame the ice ,if the ice is crap you simply you’re game you get shots and lots of traffic,Bruins did neither.
Should benefit the Bruins who play there all year rather than any other team who play a few games a year . It should be an advantage but when you watch the games the Bruins struggle with it more than any other team.

I'm not going to pile on.

But it's safe to say Montgomery overthinks. In doing so, he creates unnecessary problems for himself and his team.

We will see what kind of coach he is in short order.
We already know. He over thinks and over coaches. Which can translate to meddling.
We all said it last season against Florida. This season we saw more signs of it.
Reared its ugly head today. He's doing it again.
Whether he wants it or not he is vying to be the face of the franchise. Over inflated opinion of himself and of what a coach is.
He ain't the first one to do it.....so it's easy to spot.
Pat Burns did same thing in Montreal. Serge canned him and they immediately won the cup.....with Burns out of the way.
Pat learned from this and won a title in Jersey.

We were a crossbar away winning this tonight. Just bad luck tonight.
They sucked tonight Don !!!
Come on, if it wasn't for Swayman there wouldn't of been any overtime ! Actually the Leafs weren't much better, but they were better than the Bruins by a mile, just shows U how bad the Bruins were. This was one of the worst playoff games, if not the worst I've ever watched.

Just back from what was a groundhog game where the Bs once again played Charlie Brown while Lucy held the ball

First let's get the excuses out of the way....yes the ice was bad- even by the Garden's low standard and yes the refs made some absolutely mind- boggling bad calls

BUT
Two shots in the entire first period
The decision to continually not take decent shots but instead to make hope passes
Having an invisible fore- check for most of the game
Getting tuned on face- offs ( too bad Beecher was on the ninth floor)
Having a coach who has to tinker - even after they won two games on the road
Thinking Grizz won't eventually hurt you in the playoffs

And yet it still took the Leafs until ot to win 2-1

When we were leaving the game almost everyone was saying " see you Saturday" - it would be nice if we were wrong

McAvoy in particular, for an Assistant Captain hasn't raised his level of play in the last couple of years. Tonight he was unhinged IMO. No excuses either because he had his binky from BU with him.

I try not to be too hard on McAvoy. He takes on a huge workload and responsibility (29 mins tonight), does a lot right, has all-round talent even though his offensive instincts are lacking. He's a very very good player and a true 1D. And yet......can never quite shake the feeling that there's just a little something lacking in his game. Avoidable mistakes, poor vision/positioning, missed opportunities, failure to really step up and dominate on defense in the big games in the way we've seen in the past from a Hedman or a Pietrangelo.

Is it asking too much. IDK?? It's a bit like Coyle in this game. Probably the Bruins' best forward, had two of their best chances. But failed to convert them and then had an adverse role in the GWG. On the one hand you praise him for creating opportunities, all the more so in a game where most of his teammates aren't, but then you criticize the lack of finish. That's probably not entirely fair, but it's the way of it.

The Bruins' top players as a group simply need to do more. Marchand's overall been very good but gave away a silly penalty in this one. DeBrusk too but was quiet tonight. Carlo's been a rock on defense. But otherwise, Pasta, Zacha, Lindholm and to a lesser extent the two Charlies need to step up. They have the talent. Use it.
