It’s unfortunate, but most likely no. Still a year or two away with young stars to develop plus Metro is a complete nightmare now.

We will certainly try to make it interesting though

Merzlikins and Korpisalo had terrible years. What if that continues.

Hopefully we see Tarasov with a Jake Oettinger type opportunity.

They have 3 legit players Laine, JG, Werenski some up and coming talent and a lot of role players.

I'll say no for now but ask me again next season.

Hell no.. Gaudreau's already put up crazy numbers last season and earned his new contract. He'll revert to playing low effort, casual hockey with Columbus in a market with moderate expectations to win.

if they do its because they finish third in the metro.

Imo all of Tampa, Florida, Toronto, Ottawa are better, they'd fight detroit/buffalo/NJ/pens/washington/bostonfor the last wildcard.

Number's game.

You've never watched JG play before, huh?

If he plays with Johnson and Laine he's gonna tear it up again.

Laine's gonna win the Rocket.

Probably a year away. Goaltending is fine with Merzlikins. I dont think the blueline and overall team defense is ready yet. Once Jiricek, Mateychuk and Ceulemans are ready to start taking roster spots it will be exciting times in Columbus

Unless Kent Johnston is ready to put up 80 points, I don't think Columbus has the center depth to make proper use of their talented wingers.

Think they're a year or two away from being a year or two away.

Depends on their young studs but I doubt it.

Their next wave of young guys is not ready yet to really pull their weight in a playoff push IMO.

But stranger things have happened and maybe signing Johnny is the type of spark that can result in an emotionally fueled playoff run.

But the East looks pretty strong still. Elvis would probably have to put himself into Vezina contention to get them there. Doable but all in all pretty unlikely all things considered.

They’ll be in the hunt for sure.

Next year will be about goaltending and from the next year forward they’ll be a contending threat with the kids starting to see jump

According to some WAR roster calculators their division is going to have 5 top ten teams- Rags, Islanders, Pens, Caps and Canes.

So no. Maybe if it turns out the Islander fall off wasn't a 1 year fluke?
