For whatever reason, we always seem to struggle to score. More so against lesser teams it feels like. Teams we should crush we beat by a goal…

I believe that is because in the league most lesser teams playing Chelski play at least fairly defensively and look to play on the counter. And for whatever reasons they struggle to break down a low block, create good opportunities, and thus score goals.

Teams that step out and try to play with them, as it looks like Lille did for whatever reason though I didn’t actually watch the game, present a lot more opportunities for them to play and show their superior talent. For Lille to come out and play that way, especially on the road in the first leg, seems really tactically naive IMO.

AMAZING finish for the Gunners.

Someone finally cracked the code on that Wolves prevent defense.

Good things happen when you can manage to keep all 11 on the pitch for the whole game, eh?

I was at the London Stadium to see Leeds beat West Ham in mid January but since then they have been awful. I love Bielsa’s approach in general but they are going down IMO.

Carabao Cup…..

feel like we’ll get beaten….but who knows….with the Club under siege, maybe they surprise, or maybe they collapse under the pressure and Liverpool’s quality.

I’ll say 3-1 Pool….

The irony of FIFA trying to be the morality police is… thick. They’re one of the most corrupt organizations on the planet and they’re hosting the World Cup this year in a country using actual slave labor to build the facilities. They can probably sit this one out.

Very true but I think the moral high ground is coming form the other participating nations putting pressure on FIFA

Hard way to go down. I understood the logic of bringing in a "closer" of sorts if you know that guy is really shitloads better than your star keeper. Would Mendy at least have stopped one of the 11? Maybe. It seemed like Kepa decided to go low and strong side almost every time, maybe banking on someone breaking the pattern of pushing shots instead of curling them. Is that what makes him a specialist? I really don't know.

I suspect if Kepa is going to be used as a shootout specialist in the future he'll be practicing actually taking kicks a lot more.

It's quite a barometer though. When even FIFA - FIFA(!) - says, "Look, we may have a track record of tolerating a lot of shady shit, but even we're appalled by this" - then you've really launched yourself into the abyss.

yeah I dunno….he guessed wrong almost every time. Once he came close to a great save, but didn’t.

After the great game Mendy had, Tuchel outsmarted himself. Either way….epic final. Very enjoyable.

Not to mention, the Liverpool keeper made a pretty damn good PK himself. When he curled it in I made a surprised Picard face, then immediately started thinking about de Gea blowing his kick recently. It was too storybook an ending.
