I hate the hit, it's a terrible boarding. Pretty clear intent to injure. I also hate to see a guy bleeding the way Sustr was.

With both those things being said, it's always good to see a guy not be successful in his Insta-jump after a hit. Too often those Insta-jumpers catch players off guard and get a pummeling on them even when it's a clean hit. It's kind of nice to see an Insta jumper neutralized even if I don't like the situation as a whole. Also nice to see them penalized. Reminds me of earlier this year when Hertl boarded Kulikov, Trouba tried to jump him when he was defenseless, and Hertl totally stopped Trouba in his tracks and locked him up.

The incident should be what the suspension is for. Who gives a **** if it’s the first time? It should be the last time. You shouldn’t get a discount on a garbage play because you haven’t been suspended before.

The history should come into it after you’ve decided the punishment then add onto it.

I think it’s ridiculous that a player thinks this is ok. It wasn’t a high speed can’t change incident. He targeted him all the way and didn’t let up.

You're in first place in the entire NHL. Take it easy.

The player Wood hit is Fine(thankfully). There was also no blood and he wasn't prone on the ice. In fact, he got right up after and finished the game.

Wood has zero history of these types of hits.

First offence = No games and a fine(at best) but 1 game is more than likely.

The guy got hit him from behind and it sucks, but if we are honest this hit is tame compared to some. Sorry, that the player is dope. Flying elbows and flying knees, plus the two hits in Nashville looked worst. I am postive there are more hits from games I have not seen. He was more pinched because he was so close to the boards. If he was a foot more off the boards it could have been worse.

In my opinion this Wood hit is worse than the Forsberg one (which I don't think deserved a penalty at all). I suppose the point here is that the NHL is inconsistent with their suspensions (big surprise).

That's actually a solid take on this. However, you did bring up the inconsistency of the NHL so I don't know....
