Wow look at that, another nice defensive game without Hynes favorite defenseman John Moore!

Now if only we can put Auivtu in for one of Lovejoy/Quincey we might actually field a decent defense core.

Let's get Kalinin and DSP out of the lineup while we are at it too.

And Zacha was great tonight. Having a nice resurgence. I really do like the line with him and Hall and PAP. Set him up with two possession players to get him going.

I thought Cory didn't play as bad on the eyes as he did on paper in the two Pittsburgh games.

Aside from the Nashville game, he's looked pretty good since the last time we played the Rangers.

I still don't get the Kalinin fascination. He's slow. He loses battles and his stick work (offensively and defensively) is average. I don't get his role even as a PK specialist.

He's been good the past few games, but that doesn't change anything. We need to pursue other options, whether it come internally (JQ, Coleman) or bringing someone else in via UFA.

Pretty ugly win but I'll take it. Keep it simple and just collapse around Cory when necessary. We've done it without the D pushing like crazy and getting caught constantly, no odd man rushes against at all the last two games. Same game we played against Philly.

I understand him on the PK, that's one of the only things he's good at. He's not particularly bad at anything other offense, but he's not particularly good at many things either. He's pretty much just a hockey player.

It's frustrating as hell how he's actually scored 2 goals in his NHL career (last night was his best goal) that look better than some guys who are way more skilled. Yet, he's so poor at offense and the frequency of him scoring goals or any points are few and far between.

Me too man!! I've been hyped on Santini since his Freshman year at BC. I knew he was NHL ready then. So happy he's finally on the big club.

I don't see any need for him or Josefson going forward, unless they're 4th liners only or an extra forward, which Josefson has been the 13th forward for much of the year, good riddance. Josefson is the role that Fiddler played in wouldn't bother me going forward. Though I'd be skeptical that he wouldn't be bumped up to the 3rd line with regularity.

All in all, we NEED more bottom 6 scoring. We need some semblance of a 3rd line and having nothing but guys with 16, 18, 12, 22, 20, for point totals is not good enough for a 3rd line. Kalinin and Josefson are not capable of exceeding any of that. Kalinin wasn't even a good offensive player in the KHL. Josefson has been terrible at offense his entire career in the NHL almost.
