I suppose after 10 years of suffering we're still at the stage where we want to brag about our team and how good they are... Give it a couple of years and most Leafs fans will be used to success.

I remember an interview with Babcock where he mentioned that it was not about squeezing into the playoffs but knowing in October you were a lock to be there. Based on what we've seen so far (granted it was a small sample) one could argue we're already there.

Always remember where you came from. We aren't so high up Mount Olympus as to be looking down on any mere mortals.
Don't take anyone for granted or you will lose. Always play like it's the Cup Champs you are playing. Then you'll always be ready. Always play the right way.

I still hesitate to call this team great because they have not proven yet that they can shut things down. Great teams don't get complacent when they are up 5-1 early. They are good, I am not saying they are not, but greatness is achieved over time.

Great teams also shouldnt lose 10-1 in a game and shouldnt lose a series when up 3-1 yet Pittsburgh almost did.
Whats with you being hesitant of being positive about this team, yet your willing to call the Raptors great, and overrating them?

We probably have the largest representation of all teams here. You are going to get your share of crazy in that large a group of players.

It's a dead conversation, you really have no point. Let's move on and discuss the Devils team.

He literally complains about anyone. Just dont bother.
Also the media is horrible.

In any event, the Raptors have proven themselves to be more of a competitive team than the Leafs have at this point.

As long as you're willing to admit that you're part of the crazy with your whine about how much you HATE that NJ fans were hating on Leaf fans by making a couple of somewhat accurate statements about us.
You haven't had your prunes yet today, have you?

Hah, if you want to argue I can oblige you.

The most accurate post in this thread was the one stating you all make him sick. Other teams fans overhype, over state, underrate, troll, play victim, whine & manipulate and generally act a fool, but here it's a f***ing hobby. The toxicity of HFLeafs is so ripe and rancid their is a whole big ass group of Leafs fans who won't even post here, they stick to the mains... the anti-Leafs dominated mains... are less toxic!

Now this poster you've decided to jump on, who I had a little disagreement with myself yesterday, (but all and all comes across as a decent and engaged poster), is expressing his feelings about something in the one place he should be free to do so... with his fellow fans. And unlike 30 of these nothing fan bases this one has actually gone through So many ups and downs over so many generations that we should be the most close-knit group, by far.

As far as his whining, he's right. Wth have we or the Leafs ever done to New Jersey beside Tie Domi. Jersey is an afterthought and when it comes forefront I see nothing by compliments. Considering that, that their first page of their gdt has posts bashing Leafs fan I'm myself left confused. And if your answers as to why is simply pointing at other posters for posting nonesense on the mains then take your ass over their and call it all out.

Don't hide in here and jump all over a new member for posting his disappointment.

According to a tweet by Kristen Shilton of TSN this morning, Rosen and Borgman are playing together again tonight.

Carrick had a slight injury -- I believe he's only missed one practice with it. I think the decision to not play him on Monday was as much motivated by wanting to see the two swedes together as it was by Carrick's injury.

Sure, why not?

Don't entirely disagree.

Is it your feeling that Leaf fans should be free from criticism from other Leaf fans? If so, then your comments above seem to contradict that as you are jumping all over the Leaf fans in this group?

I was just saying that what he called "hating on Leafs fans" could be considered a somewhat accurate view.

Part of what set me off about his post and so many others on these boards is the overblown emotionality of it all. He "absolutely HATED" the "hating on Leafs fans" that he saw on the NJ boards. If he said that he had found it interesting that the early posts on the NJ GDT were heavy on criticism of Leafs fans, I probably would have given it a pass as that comes off as a rational complaint. His post came off as "someone said something slightly negative about a group I'm part of, so I should go whine about it".

Don't hide in here and jump all over a new member for posting his disappointment.

Once again, it wasn't so much the subject of his complaint as it was the over-emotional nature of it.

Not sure what this argument was about, sounds like drama. Anyway my take on fans here, or otherwise is; you always have over the over emotional ones, who are the "love hate," type. They sing our praises when we win, then say we suck, when we lose. Though those days should be over because we definitely dont suck. There are also fans who pick on players, with no justification (that or they do not understand hockey). Like with Hyman, he isnt a scorer, he is a hard-working puck retrieval specialist, who is also great on the PK. There are those who say he sucks, and it should be Marleau on that line. I disagree (right now). Further I have read mostly good comments from fans of other teams. I have seen Canadiens fans, Edmonton, Calgary, Chicago most recently, all say we have a really good team and congrats.

There are also fans who argue for the sake of it. Yesterday I simply said we have to be conscience of NJs speed, and that this is not a "cake walk," game. Suddenly minutes later I had a couple people say, we are faster, NJ sucks LOL to those I responded, "I never said we were slower," and "NJ doesnt suck, they must not have seen their first 2 games." There are here, who read what they want to read (hear what they want to hear). Especially yesterday with my comments that got quoted I thought to myself,"wow I didnt say half the things they were arguing about."

I think we need to realize something here. It has been a hard long road to this point. As to say, many years of poor trades, drafting, teams, coaches etc. Now we have (what I think) a legit contender. Do we need a piece or two...maybe. A RHD that is better than Carrick would be great. But in the end right now we are looking good. Will we win every game? No we wont." What I hate the most is fans (posters here) who talk us up say we are the best and pretty much say if we lose we suck, or we are unbeatable. I guarantee tonight, if we lose, the game thread, and post game thread will be full of people saying stupid things. Like God forbid, if Hyman has a bad game, or Martin (the current whipping boys). Ya know I never hear anyone saying Marleau isnt playing well. So far, he hasnt really. To be expected though new team, new everything. Even Nylander, while having the puck the last 2 games, he missed easy goals (esp for him). I recall one agains CHI he looked skyward, he had an open net (pretty much) but he missed.

All in all; we wont win them all, we have a very deep team (maybe the deepest in the the NHL forward wise). After all the time of suffering can we not enjoy this. Not knit pick at every small detail. Babcock is probably the best coach in the NHL or world (possibly) yet people here say he is stupid all the time. Hyman isnt the best fore-checker in hockey (maybe, maybe not)...oh he is dumb for playing Martin over Leivo. Honestly to those people I say; sure go win everything there is to win in hockey first, then criticize. It is sickening to me when so many here think they know better. Then we beat a team like Chicago, and those same people are praising Hyman, and Babcock. Those fans I really despise.

But again the moral is; lets enjoy this while it lasts. Good but not really comparable example. The Blue Jays, 2 great seasons, people knit-picking and now the future is kind of up in the air. The Raptors same sort of deal. Again lets enjoy this.

And as always

GLG

Devils are not a good team, seems like people are starting to overrate them based on their hot start. They have some very promising pieces, but their offence doesn't have great depth and lacks proven game breakers outside of Hall, and their defence is worse than ours on paper. That being said, it's games like these where it's easy to get complacent and take your foot off the gas. As long as we come in prepared and set the pace early, we'll be fine.
Please don't take this as trolling but in 2 games Devils have given up just 3 goals whereas in 3 games the Leafs have given up 15 (I think?) so how can our D worse than yours?
