Data proves that you split the goalies in back to backs.

No question you go with Cory on Lack tonight.

Keith had two days off before last night (played half a game since Sunday) and is gonna have another two days off after this one.

It didn't work in Anaheim

We can't run Kink into the ground, 8 more games after tonight, all important as is tonight but back to back you want a fresh goalie.

Kink was very busy last night.

It didn't work in Anaheim cause the team sucked on a back-to-back, not cause Keith was tired. They almost certainly would have lost with Cory and by more. The team could very well suck tonight on another back-to-back against a great team, but you gotta put in the goalie that gives you the best chance to win. Now it's go to the wall time.

He and the team have seemed to figure out how to win with him on the ice this year. That is a huge difference.
The team is just better. I think it's very rare that a goalie can win you games... But it's pretty common for a goalie to lose you games.
Even last night Keith didn't win that game by himself but he gave the team the opportunity to win the game. A lesser performance doesn't give the team the same opportunity.

And the 3 goals he allowed weren't weak. He could've probably saved the 3rd goal if he had a re-run, but to be honest, it was Kessel in the slot with an amazing screen from our Pylon.

I think Keith won us the games vs LA and vs Nashville.

These are basically must win games. You can’t put the goalie playing like an AHL scrub in. If Kink shits the bed then maybe you consider it.

He has had few games were he was a key factor. He was really good against the Islanders about a month ago in a 2-1 win. And the Islanders looked like they might get close in the standings at the time

They are feeding off each other was my point. A solid save creates energy the same way a scoring opportunity or goal can. I agree with a previous point that the entire team was lackluster on the previous back to back. Im not sure how much it had to do with Keith being tired.

Cory gives us no chance with how he’s playing. And I don’t know what’s there to suggest that he’d provide a high level performance tonight against Tampa. Sink or swim with Kinkaid. He’s earned it and there really isn’t any other choice.

That sickness Schneider had in January where he missed a couple of games, sat as a backup a few games and then missed a couple of more. Anyone think that might have been a concussion?

Would be a plausible explanation for his play leading up and since.

Pretty good considering he had a slump midway through the season...
He's our #1 now
Slump? 10 losses in 32 starts? If Cory's "slump" looked like that we'd be competing for the President's trophy. Literally.

Edit: Not the Presidents trophy...I didn't realize Tampa had 51 wins and 106 points...but if Cory won at the rate Keith has he would have 7 more wins on the season. That would be another 14 points 44 wins and 100 points. We'd be first in our division 5 points ahead of Washington.

Yes, he did go through a slump (call it a rough patch if you will).. I only say slump bc they pretty much all came during a single strech, and not spread out. If kk keeps this up, I would love to see him take the net For good (and not just bc I'm a long islander rooting for a hometown guy)

Schneider just lost his starting job to Kinkaid.

I’m really happy for Keith, but at the same time, you have to look at this as a major embarrassment for Schneider, especially with his contract.
Honestly, all we've needed this year, since our shooting percentage is a little above league average and our team save percentage is just below league average, is for the goalies to not shit the bed. They didn't have to steal games left and right, just not lose them. And we've lost A LOT of games due to poor goaltending this year. Every goalie that played this year for the Devils, not named Ken Appleby (shutout in his only start) can say they've thrown a game this year.

We have had some goalie stolen wins though. The problem is that Cory was doing it back in December and maybe a couple times in the Fall, then detonated after that. He was scary bad the last game we saw him. It was like Marty in Ottawa back in October of 2013.

I think Hall, Hischier and Kinkaid just stole us 4 points this weekend over the two best teams in the East.
