I'm not sure what's so challenging about this: the new owners are trying to create a corporate friendly environment. Yes, they used "family friendly", but what they really mean is revenue friendly.

I'm not sure it's something that I as a fan like or will benefit from, but it's pretty clear to me as a business person why they'd want to do this.

Now let me get this straight, the new owners said they wanted a family friendly environment...but they really meant a revenue friendly environment,
and as a fan you're not sure you would like it or benefit from it?

btw - I think this also shows where the new owners' interests lie. All those looking for a Volch buy-out, I think we now see that everything will need to go through a P&L evaluation that's at least equal to the Win / Loss evaluation.

Eh, Don't know if a sponsorship deal mean's that owners will now have a hand in player personnel decisions.

If Vanderbeek being broke never affected the on-ice product then why would anything that happens now impact our roster in any way? If they are only worried about profit & loss we might see an increase in prices, lack of toilet paper, decrease in ushers. But the on-ice product isn't going to be impacted.

It did affect the on ice product. It came out that players weren't being payed on time and almost every single free agent that we lost or re-signed admitted that the financial issues were a big topic in negotiations.

Winning helps the bottom line. In terms of reg season ticket sales, and playoff games. It's pretty clear.

Ownership meddling with decisions in order to save a couple bucks on payroll is penny wise and pound foolish.

I hope not. I like "The Rock." It fits. What are we going to call it? "The Casino?"

Wouldn't fit. House typically has the odds in their favor. This team clearly doesn't.

I have to admit, I'm a bit conflicted being sponsored by a online casino/poker place.

While I'm not against gambling, there are definitely people out there who are. I just wonder if having a divisive sponsor is worth it.

Call into Francesa today about the speciousness in the organizations logic when it comes to the goal song and now this casino sponsorship

It's very hard for the Devils to stand on their soap box and proclaim that we're immoral or whatever the hell that letter said and then do what they do.

They can turn around and say "well, it's just sponsorships!," Well, it's just a damn goal song. I guess if the goal song paid the Devils it would be ok :sarcasm:

It is incredibly hypocritical. I hope someone calls the Devils out on this.

Please, god, no... Let this goal song thing die already. One has *nothing* to do with the other.

The devils now share something in common with Euro Footballs best squads a tie in deal with a poker company.

Yeah I agree with you it is complete crap but that is how things work. Getting rid of the goal song apparently has not hit their wallets enough to care. It is all about the money and this sponsorship will hopefully bring a lot of that in. I do not personally see any immorality in gambling myself - it is more like a tax on the working class like the lottery (although I prefer to view the latter as a donation to the education system).

Ugh do the Devils not realize that they are completely embarrassing themselves with this nonsense? Is there any self awareness whatsoever at 165 Mulberry Street?
