You must have missed months of the regular season when they mowed through the league without MacAvoy, Marchand, and Hall, but nice try.
So you're comparing regular season games to playoffs series now? And you're chirping me for "nice try?!" that's funny stuff.

Yea and Boston set a record for most points, had 43 more points than Florida, and had a 3-1 series lead and lost the last 2 with everybody in the lineup. Gallant would be getting ripped to shreds.
Montgomery will absolutely be getting blistered but his guys are hurt. Bergeron has a herniated disc?! And it's very possible that Boston just used it all up chasing the reg season record. It's unfortunate but plausible. Boston looked lifeless as the series went on except in small spurts. Panthers just kept all over them. No excuses not to match that effort

Devils first goal, the rebound by Lazar, was a great example of this. Shesty didn't see the initial shot, kicked out the rebound using his reflexes, puck goes right to Lazar and in. If we allow Shesty to see the shots, and block those who won't see cleanly, our chances of winning go up dramatically. And as evidenced by last night's game, even if the high danger shots are lopsided in the opponent's favor, Shesty is that good if he's allowed to see it. (Of course, wide open chances from inside the slot can go still beat any goalie).
That goal was an interesting thing. The first Devil entered the zone with speed and pulled Schneider with him the whole way as he went behind the net & up to the other point. Meanwhile two other Devils went near the goal, and the only Ranger with them was Miller. Goodrow had to take the other one in Schneider's absence but didn't quite get it done.

Devils got the Rangers confused with that zone entry.
