The Q just adopted a solution that is interesting I think. By exemple, if Cormier doesn't report to Rimouski, the Nics will have a 2007 or a 2008 compensatory that will be the same pick (5th) + 18 (number of teams in the league). So, if Cormier is going to the US, we will have the 22th pick at the 2007 or 2008 draft.

yeah but that doesn't stop players from having pull, an example would be if Saint John would have drafted Esposito last year with the 1st pick even though he said he is going NCAA. Would you really want to take that chance with the 1st pick overall and recive the 19th overall pick the year after for that, I wouldn't. So players still have say at the moment.

Yeah I know it's not perfect and I think it will never be... At least they are trying something.
