If Clendening and Pirri makes the team then i want to see these PP Units:
----------Kreider
DJ Zbad Stepan Zuke ---- Clendening and Zuke mostly just feeding Zbad.
-------Clendening

--------Nash
Hayes JTM Pirri
------McDonagh

I like Hayes at the left point, McDonagh and Pirri as trigger men. Can switch JTM for Buch/Vesey/Anyone?

With 2 preseason games to go...Heres the roster I think AV will put forward IF…IF there are no trades prior to start of the season. Not the roster I personally want to see but the Roster I think they will put on the ice.

Nash Stepan Zuccarello
Kreider Zibanejad Pirri
Vesey Hayes Miller
Grabner Fast Glass

Lindberg IR, Glass sits upon his return. Fast moves to wing
Buchnevich starts in Hartford, gets the call up 10 games in.

McDonagh Girardi
Staal Klein
Holden McIlrath

McIlrath edges out Clendaning opening night but alternates as the 7th defenseman.

The roster I would rather see…

Vesey Stepan Zuccarello
Kreider Zibanejad Nash
Miller Hayes Buchnevich
Grabner Fast Pirri Makes up icetime on PP.

Upon Lindbergs return, Pirri and Bucher rotate in and out of the lineup.

McDonagh Klein
Staal Clendaning
Holden McIlrath

Why the laugh? capable 3rd line C playing 2nd PK unit.

ye no its not gonna happen. Sucks on faceoff, slow and not a very good defensive player. Would bet alot of money on him not seeing any/extremely little pk minutes this season.

I would like to see atleast one of Pirri and Zibanajad with Zucc(our best playmaker).

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Buchnevich - Zibanejad - Zuccarello
Pirri - Hayes - Miller
Grabner - Jooris - Fast
Gerbe

McDonagh - Klein (mixed)
Staal - McIlrath (defense)
Skjei - Holden (heavy offense)

Probably forgetting someone. No, not Vesey, he's in Hartford where he belongs.

Flip Zucc to 1RW
Nash to 1LW
Kreider to 2LW
Buch to 2RW

And I stand by it.

Nash/Stepan/Zucca
Kreider/Ziba/Buch
Vesey/Hayes/Miller

That's a good top-9. Potentially very good if Vesey/Buch do well and Hayes/Miller take the next step.

Given no trades:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Miller-Stepan-Zuccarello
Vesey-Hayes-Nash
Jooris-Nieves-Pirri (I know this won't happen)
Fast
Grabner

McDonagh-Klein
Staal-Clendening
Holden-McIlrath
Girardi (I know this won't happen)

Gerbe, Glass, Skjei (I can see him staying, but if he isn't going to crack the top 6, he should be getting 25 min per night in HFD) to the minors.

Would be a mistake playing Buch against other teams top players imo. Also think ZIb or Pirri needs to get a chance with Zucc. Our best playmaker with two of our best snipers needs to get a good look together imo.

I like these except would rather see Nieves get some more seasoning in the AHL, and be allowed to carry another skater instead, Gerbe

Yet I fear the 4th line will have Glass, and Girardi will be in the top 6, one if not both of Jooris or Gerbe will likely be waived. And it will be a worse team for it and worse next year too as whomever is waived is not coming back. Pirri gets Stempniaked, one of McIrath or Clendening gets McIrathed again.

For the record, I don't think Pirri's game is well suited for the 4th line, but I don't see him replacing anyone else, and he has earned the right to stick around so I have him in my lineup.

Fast/Grabner - neither of these players really impress me, however we should hang on to whomever is better at PK.

Skjei needs big minutes in Hartford. His game requires a lot of confidence with the puck and right now he has none. He won't find it sitting on the bench.

McIlrath to me is someone who needs to be given a long leash. He needs real NHL minutes, and he needs to make the mistakes at the NHL level to learn from them. It may not be a popular opinion, but I think he can turn into a really good D-man for us.

Clendening deserves a shot. He is still very young for a D-man and played well enough to earn an opportunity. If he does stick, he may be just the partner Staal needs to be decent again.

Holden seems like a serviceable 3rd pairing D-man. stopgap until Skjei can make the jump.

let me know what you think

realistically Glass will probably be in the lineup, and Nieves will be down in Hartford. This was what I would like to see.

might be time to put Miller back at center on the third line. I know Hayes is an abomination at wing, but he's been an abomination at center for the better part of a year now. Better to be a black hole on the wing than a black hole at center.

I'm not yet convinced that AV will put Nash, Step and Zucc together on a line.

snail line - only zuci with speed. :)
It could work 5v5 it`s a solid line against any top lines in NHL.
Maybe use Nash on a third line with pirri - Miller is better unless we trade him for Trouba.

Miller - Stepan - Zuci

or

Kreider - Stepan - Buch
JT - Zib - Zuci
Nash - Pirri - Hayes

Well something like that? :)

Perhaps even experiment Miller as a #center, because not too convinced about Hayes recently.

My conclusion.

- AV wish he had like *5 more preseason games - I`ve a notion that his lines is far from set in stone, unfortunately.

At the moment my lines are like this.

*Miller - Stepan - Buch (Good defensive creative line)
Kreider - Zib - Zuci (Speed line, creative, good finishing.)
*Nash - Hayes - Pirri (Mostly use Pirri for faceoffs since Hayes is poor in the wing position. Otherwise great finishing on that line, Hayes with creative passes.)
Vesey - Gerbe - Grabner (Good defensive PK speciality team)

* normally swap Miller & Nash line position, but u will get better balanced lines with Nash on the third line.

Ryan Mc - Klein
Staal - Cledening
Holden - Girardi

- Hendrik L.
(Raanta)

(Dylan McIlrath & Fast)

Move Glass to Hartford and save $ cap space. And our defense is still far below average compare to other NHL teams, but we`ve a strong core of offensive players which result in goals. :)

thats the best spot for nash if you want to up his value...but I agree. I think av will go for balance over putting the top guys together. nash will probably end up with hayes and either miller or vesey with stepan.

I think Nash will get his minutes on a third line anyway - we know AV he will use him both on PK and PP due to his long stick reach. And Nash know how to score
if he get a chance even 4v5.
Yeah three lines will be more balanced and dangerous for sure which is a bonus similar to the Penguins last season.

Hayes has a garbage preseason consistently looked like he was forcing plays that wouldn't happen. With that said it's the preseason he'lll get better. We didn't get to see much of our actual top 6 outside of one line. I think it's gunna look like this for a little bit.

20-93-89
61-21-36
26-13-10
40-86-19

Thinking that 89-36-10 will all start to rotate when people go cold or start missing defensive assignments
