That's what I would personally do along with realism (Girardi's going to play even though he's horrible, Vesey will be on the team unless he bombs in camp). I'd like to get Pirri in but there's just no room unless you're taking Grabner out which then causes you to lose that PK aspect.

I'm about here. I'd see Buch and Vesey on 2 different lines to separate rookies, but I wouldn't be totally surprised to see AV demote either of Vesey or Buch at first to give Pirri/Gerbe some games to start.

Looks perfect. That forward group is going to be a pain in the ass to play against. The thought of having a good 4th line again is tantalizing, fava beans and a nice Chianti

I think Pirri and Jooris platoon based on the opposition but Pirri gets the initial edge.

Defense is what I would do but bad feeling AV will play Holden and scratch McIlrath, which would move things around a bit.

First two lines are those 6 players, just a matter of what combination. I like how Kreids, Stepan and JT play together. That leaves the other three playing together. Two rookies with Hayes, they should get heavy offensive zone starts. Fourth line is straight forward. Gerbe over Pirri. More versatility, better in many facets of the game, brings speed. Top 4 defenseman is an obvious top 4. Could switch it around and have Skjei on the right side instead of McDonagh. Just want to avoid a Staal-Girardi pairing, so its either McDonagh-Girardi, Staal-Skjei or Staal-McDonagh, Skjei-Girardi. Klein has struggled in every role he's played for the Rangers that hasn't been the bottom pairing. I think a lot of people like Klein because he's not paid 5.5M or 5.7M. I prefer McIlrath to Holden, but Holden plays the left side, so McIlrath sits.

gotta agree here.

I can see Zuccarello getting promoted to Nash's spot after Nash is traded, and Pirri stepping into the top 9, and one of the other middle 6 guys going into the top 6 (most likely Miller or Vesey)

I look at it as balance. A poor defensive player with 2 good defensive players. A guy that can shoot very well with 2 guys that are not large scorers.

switch zucc and nash and that will be the lineup. Buch is a playmaker, as is Zuc so i think putting zucc along with stepan and kreider gives kreider the best chance to truly break out. Nash with buch is good as well. Buch is a rookie so having an excellent defensive forward on his line in nash should help him a great deal. I would also love to see Buch and Zibby develop chemistry together. Both are very young and Zib is a shooter and buch is a playmaker. 3rd line is perfect as is. Miller and Vesey were excellent together with gaudreau at the worlds, I expect Miller hayes vesey to be equally dominate against other 3rd line talent in the nhl.

My opinion on the D is let's be real...G is going to get an opportunity to start in his slot on the top RD side, and they won't pair him and Staal together to start the season. The 3rd pair is my pipe dream, but probably wishful thinking. Holden will likely play over 1 of the 2 kids because AV does AV things.
