Sherry is also getting up there in age, but so is Chico so I dunno. More people will tune into the radio now I am sure to hear Chico, so maybe that was their ultimate goal anyway?

if that was the goal they could just put dano with cangy and simulcast the tv call over the radio

Wouldn't be surprised if she was pushed out because of her honest remarks regarding the team's poor performances and the higher ups wanted her to spin it more positively. If you don't support the narrative hugh weber & co's puppeteer show is trying to force down, you're as good as gone. Doesn't matter who the person is and the perfect example is of Lou being pushed out having little to do with the hockey side of the coin. *That isn't to say it wasn't time to move on from Lou, but again, very little of why he is no longer here had to do with the hockey decisions.

Possibly, but her political tweets could also explain her canning.

I think that could be part of it. Regardless of what political camp someone is in, sometimes management just doesn't want the lightning rod of their employees being tied to any politically charged content one way or another. With such a polarizing political landscape in the country employers may not want to alienate fans over something that has nothing to do with sports.

People sometimes confuse 'free speech' with what's permissible in any setting when it really refers to the limitations on the government with regard to suppressing free speech. There's no such protection in the private sector and quite frankly, you can be fired for your political views without ramification. Race, religion, gender, and even distributing labor relations materials...well you may have a case with standing. Fired for simply espousing political views for the world to see? (private twitter or otherwise) Good luck fighting that.

If someone is posting political comments on their personal twitter, facebook, social media, etc, I don't think it should be held against them, barring something really extreme or threatening some kind of violence. I hear about it on facebook all the time, even though I don't use it. People get so mad at one of their friends posting a political comment, on both sides.

I don't know exactly what she said, but I doubt she was let go for political comments. There have been a few employees let go in recent years, which comes with the territory of a regime change. Richie Matthews was let go after being here since 2000, the video coach Taran Singleton was let go after being here for over 20 years. I wouldn't be surprised if we see other expiring contracts let go after this season. I have no idea who's contract is up (other than John Hynes!:naughty:) after this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if other carryovers don't return.

People also thought Chico was one of the ones purged/pushed out a few years back, but I think his return now pretty much dispels that and seems to indicate he was telling the truth when he said his departure was family-related.

A lot of Lou carryovers have been taken out of the organization, many for the better (*cough* Conte *cough*) and some who we probably don't want here in a head coaching or head managerial role (#4 and #30) even though Marty technically wasn't taken out, other than as a player, and when Lou was still here.

We have kept several people though, and Shero even hired a Lou guy like Scott Clemmensen to be the organization's goalie consultant or whatever the title is. Shero had no history with him. He had no history with Chico either, and even ownership was only here for one year with Chico. Their first year was his last. We also brought back a Lou guy in Bryce Salvador to be the ice side commentator and even hired Clowe to be an assistant coach when he couldn't play anymore. I wouldn't be surprised to see Patty given a role if he wanted it. Not even sure if he's in the country full time right now.

I don't listen to radio much, last season zero times so I would have preferred Chico taking Johnny Mac's job and Bryce do the radio. I like Bryce but given the choice. Ideal for me would be Chico replaces Deb and Bryce stay where he is with Cangy and Dani.

Chico doing the postgame at the desk? That would be HILARIOUS and entertaining.

Which is why it will never happen. :(

Well it was nice being able to hear Matt and Chico on the drive home, especially goofing with Johansson a little bit.

I wanna hear Chico too!

Only replays of the goal calls from the radio feed? Where we can hear Chico elaborate?

''Ohhhh yeah, you know what Matty? Now I see!''

I listened to the broadcast a little and Chico with Matt was good. Matt knows his style from previous years obviously and it was classic Chico. Funny part when Chico mid-story goes "oh we're off?" and Matt laughs and tells the fans "normally on television you have the producer in your ear telling you when you're cutting to commercial but here on the radio we do the heavy lifting ourselves so a little difference to get used to, we'll get back to Chico's story right after a quick commercial break..." and Chico was laughing as was Matt while saying all that. Then Matt re-summarized the time left, score, faceoff location and then perfectly tee'd Chico up by saying "so before the break you were telling us about..." and off Chico went back into his usual "I was talking to coach Hynes this morning..."
