Sometimes trades aren't made with getting the best player in mind. I'm sure they were happy to save whatever remained of Hinostroza's 1 million for the season especially if he's not a regular in the lineup. That money saved could go help towards paying for a separate deadline pickup.

As much as we like to think GMs have the green light to spend, I'm sure many are getting pressured to shave salary where they can.

hinostroza is making $1m and was a healthy scratch for most of the season. they're happy to just get rid of his remaining salary/cap hit. morrison's AHL salary is only $60k.

Yup. One of the least memorable Panthers of all time, and that's saying something.
