JFC chill the **** out hf posters, we just lucked into a dynamic offensive player with 8OA. Be happy for a minute. Him plus JE will be amazing....

Basically I feel the same way as last year's draft.

Like the player. Disappointed we neglect defense in the first round again.

Kid could flee to KHL tomorrow and we would not care.
Some utterly irrational hot takes in the thread, this takes the cake. Hopefully a :sarcasm: moment or something, somehow.

High risk/reward prospect. Super talented, just have to hope he matures physically to NHL level. I'll take it. Say it again though, still hoping Botts has more of a plan for the D this offseason.

EDIT: Definitely feel like this was a BPA pick, which is the right move usually.

Nah, this is a good pick. Speedy winger with good hands? We need that

Develop him right. We could have a top end talent on our hands

Mood level for this Sabres fan = 7/10

I wonder if Botts feels pretty comfortable in being able to sign shattenkirk?

I completely understand the people who wanted the D. I do.

And at pick 13 they're all still there.

Go look again. He is not slow. Far from it.

I am looking at ISS ratings. They rate skating as Elite--Makar, Excellent-Hischer, Lilegren then Very good--a ton of players including Mittelstadt-- Good e.g. Vilardi. I do not knock his skills nor that he can skate in nhl. But he does not bring to Sabres what we have been saying the Sabres need---Dmen, or -speedy winger who can score. Still if he is BPA then so be it.

The fact that people are already freaking out that he'll leave for UFA in four (!) years after college is absolutely hilarious.
