Honestly I don't think Price gets selected by Seattle solely because there is so much money tied up in Seattle's roster already that I'd find it difficult to fit in Price's salary.

They already have probably around $14 million tied up between 4 players (Vatrano, Driedger, Larsson and Oleksiak), while they're rumored to be taking on other expensive players (like Tarasenko, Voracek, Gourde and such).

Price won’t get picked. Genius move by Bergevin. Instead of losing Allen, we only lose likely one of fleury, Kulak or Drouin .without giving any assets up!

Imagine having to not take Price due to the risks and then having to settle on one of (Drouin, Byron, Kulak, or Fleury). Then also revealing to your new fan base who probably are emotionally attached to Price (like the owner is) that they are taking Kulak or Fleury from the Habs?

Talk about a demoralizer on their hyped up show. I wonder how they make their picks and in what order? Habs last? :sarcasm:. If they are not taking Price, they should get that over with early

They probably would have tried to sign Armia as well if he was exposed.

Do we have a confirmation for Driedger yet?

How is it a genius move though?

If Bergevin didn't want Price picked - why risk it? It's a stupid move. How expensive could protecting Allen have been? If Francis was going to pick Allen - throw a 2nd round pick his way and he won't, seems pretty harmless and inexpensive - Allen isn't all that valuable.

I know some people want Price gone from the habs - but keeping Price or losing Price has a huge impact. You don't leave it up to chance lol. Stupid move

first of all the price to pick Allen was a 1st round pick and a 3rd. Second, just because it’s a risky move doesn’t make it a bad one. It seems as though they won’t take price so it’s actually a great move.
Third, Allen is extremely valuable to us. With price likely out until December, we needed a goalie to get us through the first 30 games. Allen can do that and at 2.4M , it’s a good contract too. It would be hard to find that on the goalie market this year considering dridger got 3.4M

How is this relevant? The season is over, they are visiting her family, just like they have done every off season since she joined him in Montreal. They even lived with her family last summer while their Kelowna home was being renovated, and may be living there again this year until the renovations are complete. Seattle may select Price, but the fact that he is visiting his wife's family now doesn't prove anything.
announcing they arrive in WA the same day of the draft... c'mon do 1+1 here.

It's a Win-Win for MTL to be honest. If price is indeed injured and will missed a portion of the next season, keeping Allen made sense. If Price is not picked by SEA, this ensure MTL keeps its duo but more importantly that Allen there at training camp. If Price is pick up, it free up so much cap space and... does not change the fact that Allen is to start the season as MTL No1 G. MTL may need to shop for a no2, but there are plenty of those on the market right now and cheaper then Price. So MTL could actually upgrade another position.

Price is heading to NY right now to see a specialist. Just because Angela posts where she is, doesn’t mean Carey is right there with her lol.
Do the math man.

A poster on the Montreal Hfboards, is reporting according to ESPN radio Price was not picked by Seattle.

I agreed with posters from the beginning, the cap hit and the risk is too much for a new team. Sure they could pick him and try to flip him but imagine if Team X told Seattle, pick him and we'll take him in a trade if you retain 20-40% of his salary etc..., And then Seattle picks him and the team backs out. Now you're stuck with $10.5 million to pay a goalie who might or might not play, or 1/8th of your cap on nothing that helps you win now. And the $11 million bonus and the next five years of his contract. I am sure they thought about it and signed Dreidger and will draft Holtby/Kahkonen. The best marketing is winning.

almost like they don't want to give an aging Goalie with injury concerns that is bad most of the time he does play 50 million dollars

The injury couldnt be major. He was giving elite play mere weeks ago. This is going to be fixing a minor issue. It's a non factor, especially since they will have access to great goalies in this draft to carry the load till he returns.

As for the cap hit, that's only bad if he doesnt perform. For the Price we just saw, 10.5 million is good value
