Pretty sure that after aquiring Arenado, the Cards were expected to be the favorites to win the division without the first half struggle they had.

This was surprising but I'm fine with it. Shildt was just a slightly better Matheny.

The philosophical differences is probably that Shildt wanted to use the same 3 relievers every game. Matheny was/is a moron but I remember when Mozeliak trade Allen Craig just so he would play Oscar Tavares (RIP). Probably didn't wanna go through that again.

Seems like Oli Marmol and Stubby Clapp are the favorites right now. I don't think Oquendo wants to manage. Maybe they take a look at old pal Skip Schumaker. Or maybe Yadi player-manages for a year and takes over full time in 2023

The entire pitching staff was ravaged by injuries this year. Flaherty, Mikolas, Hudson and Martinez all missed more than half the season and even Kim had a couple spells on DL. They made the trades for Lester and Happ just because they needed bodies. Lester and Happ surprisingly wound up pitching well over the last two months.

Mozeliak is the real issue here. Somehow he just always seems to stay around. Who does he get really get along with?
Cardinal viewership is way down with a team that made the playoffs. That's a bad situation. Ownership is all about money and letting

The only offensive stat they were in the top 10 of the league in is K % at 8th at 22.4%

And from the looks of it, Albert's presence on the team has more to do with Mo than Shildt.
