I don't think the Caps would have given Forsberg much of an opportunity at first. We tend to take alot of time with our prospects. Only reason our young players are playing this year is because we are forced to.

Forsberg broke out a long time ago though. Seeing as Burakovsky, a year younger than Forsberg, made the Caps 3 years ago, I'm sure Forsberg's breakout would've occured exactly in the middle of our window of contention.

The way this team has handled young players in the past 5 years is disastrous. The complete opposite of the beginning of the Ovechkin era when the Caps were the best at developing young forwards.
