Next year, if the cap is 73mil we will need to fill a 3rd line LW, a 4th line RW, 13th F, 3 bottom pairing D (6 depth players) and sign Kruger and they will have around 18mil to do that, easy as pie.

Dano – Toews – Hossa
Panarin – Anisimov – Kane
XXXX – Teravainen – Garbutt
Desjardins – KRUGER – XXXX
XXXX

Keith Hjalmarsson
Seabrook TVR
XXXX – XXXX
XXXX

Crawford
Darling

The year after, they can concentrate on signing the 3 young kids first, and then fill in the depth. They will have 27mil in cap space (w/cap of 75mil) to sign Teravainen, Dano, Panarin, Kruger and 8 depth players. Let's say Kruger, Panarin , TT, and Dano get a combined 16mil (pretty high IMO), that leaves 11mil for 8 depth palyers. Not that bad really.

DANO – Toews – Hossa
PANARIN – Anisimov – Kane
XXXX – TERAVAINEN – XXXX
XXXX – KRUGER – XXXX
XXXX

Keith Hjalmarsson
Seabrook TVR
XXXX XXXX

Crawford
Darling

If your numbers are correct, that isn't half bad

Save the big jump in the cap for 2017-2018, macroeconomy. We don't need it this year.

Conservatively I have about a $72.5 cap, 7% HRR growth from last year than taking a 13% hit on Canadian HRR.

Hoping the new internet MLB deal has a bigger effect and it winds up around $74-75.

74.5M guidance given at BoG.

67.5M committed. Only Kruger and Shaw of note to sign and neither need big raises. Hawks will have some pretty significant cap room if that holds. Factor in a Bickell buyout and the Hawks could fit a 4-5M player even, hypothetically (understanding that they need some room the next offseason for Dano, Teravainen, Panarin, also doesn't include Panarin bonuses)

There is no "cap purge".

After Bickell wins the Conn Smythe that won't be happening

Explain, please.

Roszival and the rookies on ELC's can earn money if they play enough games (Roszival has that clause I believe) If they win the Calder, or finish top 10 in the NHL in scoring (Panarin). I am not sure exactly how much Panarin can earn...2.5mil maybe? And Roszival can earn an extra 200k. Whatever doesn't fit under the cap this year, gets put on next year's cap.

Rozy has a $200k based on games played

Panarin $850k in A Bonus ( team bonuses in categories like +20 g or assists, +/- . TOI

$1.725 mil in B Bonus (Calder or other trophies , top 10 in league in G , A, p ....)

TT $600k don't know if A and/or B

We don't know the exact breakdown but AP is going to make his A and Rozy will make his.

Bickell wont be bought out. That doesnt make sense for the long term plan of this team. You realize a Bickell buyout this offseason would break down like this:

Next two years he would have a 1mil hit. Next two years after that, where he would have been off the books if not bought out, (2017-19) he'd have a cap hit of 1.5mil. It would be insanely stupid to buy Bickell out at this point especially when we really dont even need the cap next season as much as we need it in 17'. That's adding to our problem not subtracting from it. He's either gonna be traded with a retention or we ride it out.

No. This is incorrect. If he is bought out after this season it is 1M the first year and 1.5M the second year. It is a very appealing option.

Buy him out and spend 3M x 2 on a guy that can play. Heck, Belesky just signed for that, Joel Ward too. That's real money.

Thanks for the info. Agree that $1.05M in bonuses is a given.

Ah, it changed the date on me when I entered it. I see.

Either way, we need our cap room for '17. Still dumb to have 1.5 on the books in '17 when we don't need the cap for next year. If we can retain 50% to trade him that would be our best option.

They could always try and retain up to $1M on Bickell, which would have the same impact on the cap next year that a buyout would, but no $1.5M cap hit in 17-18.

I'd probably rather even see them retain up to $2M on Bickell over the buyout. That cap hit would suck next season, but they're not really looking at any cap problems this offseason. They'll have to re-sign a lot more people for 17-18, and some of them will be expensive. Having as much cap space as possible will be more important then.

Isn't it possible that Panarin recieves a bonus even if he doesn't win the Calder? I think I remember reading where players that finish top 5 in award voting recieve lesser bonuses.
