The "reward" is trading Tyler Myers away.
Surprisingly feeling fine with this. Our pro scouting under Allvin has been a stark contrast to Benning. Adding another top 4 D that's in their 20's would be a great piece to round out our team.

We got Hronek last year. Don't think it will take magic.

Canucks also all of a sudden have nice prospects that other teams might want to target.

it would be folly to throw the 1st rd pick in play just based on relative success after an 8 game sample. on paper this is still a bubble team that is riding high PDO.
Rewarding the players by trading one of them away for someone better

yeah! reward the players...all of them except the guy that's going to be bumped down to the ahl or traded away in this upgrade.

When AZ was going into the covid shut down high in the standings, we started hearing that they wanted to “reward the players”. They traded for Taylor Hall.
They then drastically dropped in the standings and if it weren’t for the covid playoff bubble they wouldn’t have made it. Haha

If you replace “players” with “Elias Pettersson”, this makes sense. I’d guess this is part of a larger attempt to re-engage in negotiations.

you need to try and convince Pettersson to stay and an early deal would surely help their odds more than hurt them
normally id agree a first may be too much; but the player wont likely be better than Elias!

They can target those players all they want, short of having some really interesting photos of the owner of those franchises, they don’t have a hope in hell in getting them.
It's sort of nothing news to me. They clearly want to continue adding to the team. The comments through the summer, camp and even during the season indicates they want to continue moving players out and others in. They will be targeting a RHD still (as they have even after acquiring Hronek) and they will be targeting some size on the wings.
