Can anyone currently playing break Chara's slap shot speed record?

Austin Matthews has the best shot I've ever seen, just give him a chance to do it

Pulock hits high on the radar gun. The big booming snapshot has kind of lost favor in terms of actual shot selection.

He doesn't have much of a slap shot tho which is what is being discussed here. Wrist /snap absolutely elite. Maybe Laine if/when he fills out?

Done under the same rules, the answer is no.
Given KHL skill comp rules, then maybe.

Seth Jones? Not sure what he tops out at, just know I saw his slapper rebound over the blue line last night.. thing sounded like a cannon clapping off the goalie's blocker.

Apparently Parayko was clocked shooting a 104mph slapshot before the Winter Classic in St. Louis a few years back. He has an absolute bomb of shot when he gets it off clean. It is honestly the most frustrating thing about him as a player. He doesn't shoot enough and often when he does he flubs it or breaks his stick.

108.8 mph will be hard to beat.

Also the shot that set the record definitely wasn't Chara's hardest shot.(recorded yes, but i've seen harder shots in game)

Dumba has a laser, but I don't think he has the length to compete with Weber and Chara. Parayko isn't a bad name... Eriksson-Ek blocked 3 of Weber's shots on one shift recently, and had to miss games because of it. Cue to the "Stop! He's already dead!"

I'm no physicist, but it seems to me that a guy using a 65-inch stick will inherently have an advantage when it comes to exerting force onto the puck. 108.8mph seems to be getting to the upper end of what a human body can do, unless you start changing the conditions of the shot like the KHL did in order to get a higher result.

There's definitely harder shooters but they need to get to the All Star game first..

Exactly.
Chara could have himself but he didn't make it to the ASG for a while.
