Interestingly enough, he had 8 points in his final 14 games to wrap up last season. Combining those games with his 68 this season, Fowler has 50 points in his last 82 games.

It's also interesting to note, he had a very slow start this season. He could have been there already. It all started to change when he took Klingberg's spot on the PP.

I think if Fowler played on a deep team as a 2nd pair LD and getting easier matchups he would be at 55 points this year.

Honestly, if we had a decent PP and executed it better he‘d hit 50+ this season here. 46 is still very good. Still two games left to hopefully add to that.

Since he had 48 points on the Ducks, on a contender he probably could have reached 60 points with a better group of players to pass the puck to as well as getting easier matchups.
Even on a team like Edmonton he might have been able to do it, simply passing the puck out of the D zone to McDavid has a chance of turning into a point.

If Fowler didn’t have that slow start of the season he would have blown past 50 points. He is a solid 2/3 D who we are going to need to help mentor our D prospects coming up over the next 1-2 years.

He finished 23rd among all D-man production in the league, 1 point shy of a Top 20 spot.

Yeah he had 47 points in 67 games after that, about a 58 point pace. It really seems like's turned a bit of a corner the last couple years. He attacks more, walks the line and gets to the center more.

I think you hit the nail on the head there, it really does seem to mostly be a matter of him asserting himself much more offensively. For so long, I think he was just programmed to make the safest play, doing his best to tread water in a less than ideal role for a competitive team.

At a certain point (seemingly right after Lindholm was dealt) there has been a shift in his mindset. Could quite possibly be that he realized there's no hope in hell of propping up this defensive group no matter how safe he plays it. Might as well open it up and at least try to help generate some counter attack.

Fowler placed 33rd

How is this possible? Cam is by far the softest player on this list. I would love to see him and Austin Matthew’s pillow fight and get disqualified from this list… maybe it’s because Cam enjoys taking so many minor holding penalties every year….

I read a rumor that he secretly puts bars of soap in the pillows during the pillow fights.

I half wish Fowler gets traded to a team where he can be a #3 with a good partner. He would get a recognition he actually deserves.

No way, let him play like he did last season with a better team around him and look great on OUR team

Is this why he's always pointing lately?

No. Bad decision making is different from fatigue. This isn't Fowler's rookie year.

Now, as for his skating miles ... err kilometers, maybe the staff needs to find ways to cut down his minutes such as on the PK, especially now that Vaaks looks good in a third pairing role with Gudas.

I would be willing to bet that bad decision making in general is 100% linked to fatigue and that there’s science to back it up, I’m just too Getzlaf to look it up.

Edit: Big Fowler guy here. He’s in over his head and playing too many minutes, has been for years but there’s literally no one else on the team that can do what he does on a nightly basis.
