Girgensons wasn't demoted. Josefson is hurt and that's how Housley pieces the lines back together. Either Girgensons or Reinhart had to play center on a lower line.

Not really a demotion, more of filling a role.

Think of it this way: Girgensons plays well, gets expanded role due to injury. This isn't a demotion, it's how they have to manage lines with Josefson's injury.

It's not a demotion. As Housley repeatedly says after he changes line combos and someone asks this question -- he's just looking for chemistry. Which is a good answer because that's what he should be doing.

Maybe. In terms of how they are playing, they seem to still be trying to find Reinhart's place and with it his game. Gus is very much a plug-and-chug solution to needing another center.
