Brodeur statue??

No, its not this teams way.

The Pens can erect a statue to tanking for glory, I want none of this false idol garbage.

And Penguins fans can skew it anyway they want, they purposely dressed minor leagues and lost to draft him.

Bingo.

The Devils won't even adopt a third jersey(I wish the Isles would do the same, please don't mention our third jersey :shakehead)

And they already have a statue outside their arena, which is just dedicated to the sport of hockey itself, the way it's supposed to be.

i'm fine with it either way, but he sure deserves it more than that giant hockey player in championship plaza right now.

While I agree that I would rather see a Marty shrine inside the arena, one thing I've always wanted to see outside of the Rock is that huge blank wall on the side of Edison Ale House facing the plaza used to display maybe some nice weatherproof replicas of the Cup banners and retired numbers.

I actually like the Islanders third jersey. The one that's mostly black that says Islanders across it?

You are most certainly in the minority with that one.

I don't think it looks that bad, and yeah it does look like a Mets one a little bit. Not the Gorton's one, but the one they use now as a third jersey.

Keep in mind I also don't like the old Devils colors either. Have a couple jerseys I got as a kid, but I didn't really start collecting stuff or buying many until 92 and later.

Love it or hate it, those colors are a huge part of the Devils' history and it's only right for them to break out the old threads once in a blue moon.

For the Devils/Rangers outdoor game at Yankee Stadium, I would LOVE to see these brought back just for that one game:

Don't forget that these were the sweaters worn by the Devils during their first ever win back in 1982 at the expense of the NYR.

I think if they used something closer to their normal color scheme instead of black and grey it'd look better, and of course take away the numbers on the front, I wish teams would stop trying to do that.

But on topic, I don't know if a Statue is necessary, it seems a bit garish and out of character for the Devils franchise. But I do think they should do something more than a jersey retirement to recognize him considering how important he has been to the franchise.

I'm old enough to remember when those jerseys were the only ones we had, but you'll catch me in a red and black, or the modern road white before the retro.

I have an authentic white green and red..from 1985...I wear it often to the games

I have a few old ones from the early 90s. I have a Muller, and a Maclean too. I also have a Shanahan somewhere.

I was a big kid so they still actually surprisingly fit me. Maybe they're a little tight.

I'm cool with retro night, but I personally don't think the colors are as attractive as the ones we got now. I don't look good in green either.

I definitely think a statue is warranted, not as big as the championship plaza one and not outside. Maybe something within a 25sq ft area. Something not too big but with great artistry, there tons of room inside. They could easily put a small one the glass entrance or outside the fire lounge in that big open area against the glass.

Anyone want a signed Zach Parise #9? Cheap... :-(

My Brodeur home white from 94 is still my favorite.

Each to their own, but most hate it, including myself, it looks like something Dr.Frankenstein made.

Most likely when the Isles move to Brooklyn, it will be replaced by something with "Brooklyn" on it.

What the hell??

An Isles fan bumps up this thread not to add to the topic but to respond to an unrelated post made a little over 5 MONTHS AGO by BleedRed?

You're right, man. "Random Thread Bump *is* Random."
