Released from his contract?

He was already in the AHL. Didn't need waivers.

Boston does these questionable things. (see Joe Thornton trade). But then, they make up for it with other moves and then dominate the standings, win Cups. I sit here as a Sharks fan and I envy them so much.

Did you know Boston had 3 straight picks in the 2015 Draft which was the best draft in over a decade and they took two busts and Jake DeBrusk who is OK? Had they drafted better, it's scary how many Cups they might have won. I know I'm the first to mention it.

It was the hockey gods punishment since the Bruins landed Pastrnak at #25 the year before.

Whats hilarious is the next 3 picks are very good players. Like literally the following 3 picks.
I remember thinking Sweeney was a genius and best GM in history.
Then it turned out he was ill prepared and that the scouts ******* him.
I laughed for way too many days. It never stops being funny.

If only you could tell me who they missed out on, I don't think that's ever been mentioned.

Nope never.

It's crazy how they took Pasta in '14, they did what they did in '15, then took McAvoy in '16.

Didn't help Sweeney that he was hired on May 20th with the draft on June 26th. He had spent 2015 as GM of the Providence Bruins. In 2014 he was Director of Player Development and more involved with draft stuff.

Get the impression that
1: he had to really rely on the scouts for the 2015 draft because he hadn't really been involved.
2: they didn't like Barzal and Connor (softer perimeter guys like Seguin who they had just moved)
3: they thought they were going to be able to use those picks to move up and Senyshyn was really supposed to be a 2nd round gamble
