I hope this doesn't get moved (talking to you pesky Mods).

Its been suggested before a few times so i figured why not. This is a thread for Bluth members to talk about anything NHL related. We've been playing videogames together for the better part of 4 months now and we'll most likely continue playing videogames with eachother until NHL 14.

Maybe to keep this thread a little organized we can have a little header on each of our posts and split things up into separate categories...

-Conference Standings
-NHL Awards
-Playoff teams
-Cup Winner

...etc..

I would have thought Briere would have gotten it for sure.

...or maybe Bryzgalov :sarcasm:

Michel Therrien has been oddly refreshing. It's nice to have orthodox lines, Plekanec is not playing with grinders, there are no dmen on our fourth line, our young offensive star [Chenny] actually playing on offensive lines and apparently doing very well.

It's encouraging, the Habs aren't nearly as bad as last year made it seem.

I was really surprised to see them fall so low this season. Not a playoff team? Sure. But i never would have guessed they'd be picking 3rd overall.

Eagerly anticipating the inevitable Pleks to CHI trade lol

I might be a homer but I see them as a playoff ("bubble" at worst) team, if not this season then very soon. Price, PK, Patches (and some would say Eller and Galchenyuk) is a pretty good core.

The East seems pretty set 1-6, i think 7-10 is going to be a crapshoot. Although i'm not too expectant of Galchenyuk yet. He's not going to be put in an important role (AFAIK) very soon so his impact will be low

Therrien has had him on the 2nd ES line and is giving him powerplay time in camp...but I'm not sold yet either, we shall see though.

There is an opening on our 2nd line with Plekanec and Gionta, if Chenny doesn't fill it Bourque will (he's been unjustly maligned imo, big body who can score 25 consistently).

Atkinson has been on the "top" line with rj and Brassard all camp. I say "top" because :cbj isn't going to roll with the traditional #1 #2 #3 lines, instead they will roll 3 2nd lines throwing certain lines out for certain situations causing match up nightmares for other teams in theory, also Jenner possibly could make the team, he seems to be able to perform up to the challenge..

Hartley is a pretty interesting coach, hopefully he doesn't try to ice the 5 d man PP like good ole Brent Sutter.

Looks like Bartschi is probably going to be playing on a line with Backlund and Cammy.

Backlund looks alot better then I've ever seen him, but I've also been waiting for the foo to break out the past two years.

Everyone predicts bottom of the west but I'd say another 9th finish should be on the horizon! But in a 48 game season Kipper is probably in the vezina discussion, we'll see!

Honestly not trying to be a jag, but i dont think it makes much sense for :cbj to run 3 (very) mediocre lines. The young guys good enough to be in the top 6 need to be in the top 6. In theory you'd have all of your young players be complete players if they're playing in all game situations but things rarely work out that way. Some players/prospects are better at things than others and i think CBJ needs to find those specialties with their players and use them.

Colorado seems to be rolling 3 balanced lines:

McGinn - Stastny - Jones

Landeskog - Duchene - Parenteau

Downie - Mitchell - Hedjuk

Mcleod - Olver - Kobasew

We need O'Reilly back OR trade him for Kulikov who's also RFA.

if they can do

O'Reilly + Depth D/d prospect (either O'brien, Hunwick, O'byrne)

for

Kulikov + 3C (Mattias or whomever, maybe Goc)

I'd be a happy camper. Unless they get Yandle somehow lol
