So does the CFL.
We are getting off topic, but just for the record:
An average attendance number in a 34 games season for... say 26 teams in a couple of years. Is worth A LOT more then the same attendance number in an 18 games season for 9 teams.

Pro Rel won’t necessarily stop relocating teams and exploiting citie for better stadiums. See MK Dons.Weather MLS is considered major league or not, it's not immune to teams playing cities off eachother for better stadium deals/new ones or they just pack up and leave as this is what this is all about.
Another way to make owners richer and once the expansion process to 28 teams is done, whoever doesn't get teams will be used as leverage as the first 'Soccer Specific Stadium' is approaching 20 years of age.....can't have that now can we.
Another reason why MLS is resisting on going to promotion-relegation system.
I know the whole minor v major is a dumb insecure sports fan thing anyway, but what is NPB or KBO then? Liga MX? The future Canadian OK?
I don't know what Canadian OK is.
NPB, KBO, Liga MX, are all the major leagues in their respective countries. Not sure what else you could call it, without abandoning the major/minor nomenclature.
Ugh, The new Android update has a brutal spell check for acronyms....meant Canadian PL.
Should have wrote pro team. In a way, Austin is a similar kind of city.
As conceited as "the" Ohio State University is, it doesn't have oil wells bequeathed to it and its own cable sports network (no matter it's not doing so well) and a pesky habit of keeping minor league teams out of town the way UT does in Austin.
IOW, cut is quite right, but Austin uses more steroids, if that seems possible.
So I really tend to think that any sort of stadium proposal in Austin will either have to have UT's blessing, or will end up way in the northern suburbs like the indoor arena in Cedar Park or the ballpark in Round Rock. I think Anthony Precourt is fooling himself IF he thinks Austin would be an improvement.
I could go on for several paragraphs about this, but not now. MLS already has a "Texas problem." This obviously doesn't smell right, but I'm just a step short of believing Columbus should call Precourt's bluff. I'm still waiting to see what Precourt expects out of Austin.
ABSOLUTELY A FALSE STATEMENT, Austin's hockey history is owned by WHO, Dallas is it notr/MLS dont even see the other 2 Texas teams as big successes, and many are questioning how Austin does any better?
On the other hand, Austin was basically sitting as the next big American city to not have pro sports. (I know I know, UT) and I had wondered who would be the 1st to seriously consider it.
If you think Columbus and Austin are similar decent markets with major college programs, the difference is Columbus has the NHL and Austin has none.
Honestly, this move might help the Jackets a bit right??

... what part of it?
Also, MLS has higher attendance then the NHL (over less games, but still!).
it's akin to saying Charlotte isn't an NHL Market, when in fact Carolina through ownership placed a franchise there.... Austin is Stars territory, just as it's not named Austin.
Charlotte isn't an NHL market, it's an AHL market. Are you saying that San Antonio is Avalanche territory currently?
and every fan wants Milwaukee upgraded, but it's not based in reality
What I was told by someone who works for the Patriots in player evaluation - CFL offensive numbers mean little as they are accomplished against defenses that are mostly all Canadian. AFL numbers mean more because you have hungry players on both side of the line.
The CFL survives today mainly because TSN needed them after losing national rights to hockey and baseball to Sportsnet.
I found it interesting how the MLS, a league where roughly 1/3 of the teams are in markets that have only 1 of the big 4 teams, never had a team in a city that didn't have any of them.
