I'm among the older posters here, so I remember that stuff.

Do I think it can rekindled? No. How can any team or fan hate the Wild? You can't even say you hate the wild... it makes you sound a like a nature hater lol. It's the worst team nickname in all of sports IMO. It comes off as a cheesy expansion team to me, and I can't see how that would change.

To get more specific. when I was a kid... Wing games were the biggest rivalry. But Blues and Northstar games were right behind them. Hated Dino both with Minnesota and Detroit. Miss those days. It's too bad you guys can't figure out a way to get that old team name and uniforms back.

I agree....It wasn't enough that Norm Green took the NHL out of Minnesota, but why did he have to take the North Stars brand with him as well?? :madfire:

Oh well...here's hoping that you, and other Chicago fans, are able to build up a healthy dose of hatred for my Minnesota NHL club. Maybe that starts tonight!

For me it's the 1991 first round playoff matchup. I was certain we were gonna slice up the North Stars especially after Roenick opened up Game 1 with a goal like 30 seconds in, but then the Stars ended up beating us that game and won the series in 6. Bad times for Hawk fans that year.

I was at that game!

I am a transplant in the Twin Cities. I am glad the division will change so I can see the Hawks a little more. And I too hope the rivalry is reignited once realignment is set in place. I think if we meet in e playoffs that will accelerate the process.

Coach Q: Bolland will be back, playing with the second line. Frolik is doubtful due to illness. Crawford will start in net. #Blackhawks

The first round loss as bad as it was didn't deter me from seeing a good future with those players. Belfour was amazing that year, he won the Vezina, the Calder and I believe the Jennings or maybe it was Boston.

Former North Stars/Current Wild fan coming in peace....

I'm really looking forward to re-igniting that old rivalry that existed back in the 70's and 80's...

Question for Hawks fans that are old enough to remember the days of Dino Cicarelli and Al Secord: Understanding that the Red Wings are the biggest traditional rivalry with the Blackhawks, what are your recollections of the battles with the North Stars? Do you think that a similar rivalry can kick off with the Wild (assuming realignment goes through and the Wild pick it up a notch, competitively speaking)?

Speaking as a Wild fan, I could never really feel it with the Oilers, Flames and Canucks...Since the moment Minnesota was awarded the Wild, I've been itching for realignment so we can get into the same division as Chicago, St Louis, and Dallas...would've been nice for Detroit to stick around as well.

I think the Blackhawks rivalry with St Louis & Minnesota can grow as the Redwings are going to be an aging team. Dino Cicarelli yep I remember him. He was a former London Knight way before Bolland & Kane played there. Cicarelli was a beast and was pretty much always playing when Larmer & Savard played matching their intensity.

I sure hope Saad stays on the first line and carcillo on the fourth tonight! But knowing Q, everything will get mixed up at some point tonight.

Hopefully we won't miss Frolik's defense on the PK too much. The guy's a great player as long as he isn't trying to score.

I was at the game when Van Dorp was cut in warmups. They were scraping the blood off the ice for 5 minutes.

In those days, the Stars/Blues/Leafs were uglier games than the Wings.

Wish I'd have been older to appreciate Al Secord more. Wish we could have a modern incarnation of him but then again players like that don't really exist anymore. I don't think we'll ever again see players with his kind of goal and PIM totals together. 50 goals, 180 PIMs? Yes, please.

As for the Wild, it could definitely become a good rivalry, especially if a playoff meeting or two comes into play.
