OK you've won me over, If I see one at the shelter, I will definitely see about adopting them. So far though, from the correspondence with the Shelter, it's a lot of retrievers, so they've asked me for what I'm looking for and to get back to them later today.

If you go to visit any type of dogs you will get a feel for them and just know. I know the research with puppies is that they’ll pick who they want to be with just by how they act around you. Not sure that translates to older dogs though.

I just went to “look” at some pug puppies with a friend at a house in Surrey. They had two fawn and two black ones. 3 of them were pretty shy but one of the black ones was all over me. I left called my boss for an advance he said no worries. Went to the bank and used my rent money to buy a pug and he came home with me that night. I hadn’t even got permanent residency yet but I had to have him.

May the burn in hell for even THINKING that.

We met Leslie Nielsen in the lobby of a hotel in Hilton Head many years ago. I think he was there for a celebrity golf tournament. Guy was really cool.

Best part: He had a whoopie cushion and was using it. Here we are, in this fancy hotel in a crowded lobby, and he kept slipping it on chairs before people sat down.

EDIT: One thing some people don't realize is he actually was a straight dramatic actor for YEARS until Airplane. That's part of what made it so brilliant, him and guys like Robert Stack playing all the punchlines straight.

Robert Stack’s on Unsolved Mystery’s used to keep me up at night. I was a kid but I got so scared. Had to watch it every week though. What made it easier is I was in Australia watching it.

Yep he was well known for doing that. Loved the guy ever since I was a kid.

Police Squad was incredible. even more deadpan and straight than the Naked Gun movies. Too bad it was cancelled after only 6 episodes. To this day The Naked Gun is my favourite purely comedic movie and I don't imagine anything will surpass it for me, nor will I get tired of it.

Awesome scene, although this one still is a fave since folks are talking Leslie Nielsen . . .

Great movie. It’s Enrico Palazzo!

My cousin got me hooked on Police Squad as a kid, so I was ready for the movie.

BTW, much as I love Naked Gun, in that genre, it will always be Airplane for me.

Yeah I’ve lived in Canada for almost 10 years now but 30 years in Australia. Mainly Melbourne but lived in Alice Springs for a while.

What part were you in?

I mean, the majority of the time when my wife says "I love you" to me, I respond "I love you too, Nordberg....."
Sometimes I wonder how I'm even married....

His what used to keep you up?? His voice??

It was scary as **** with that music telling me about some some women who was abducted from a phone booth while on the phone to her fiancé.

EDIT:It was the combination of it all. Just like why the Pens suck

I did love him in this though. Actually he swears a bit in it so it’ll probably be taken down. His bit in Baseketball when Coop goes missing

Yeah, I didn't mind the Unsolved Mysteries music as a kid but Robert Stack's voice used to creep me out.

Then I watched "Beavis and Butthead Do America" (he voices a character in it) and I wasn't freaked out as much.

What part were you in?

Sydney and Brisbane

My wife got a job working a retail exec job in the beginning of 2013, back when the AUD was actually worth just more than the USD.

She went 5 months before me, since I stayed with our Aussie-Rottie mix at home for the first five months of the quarantine process (post blood draw, you wait 5 months before what was the last month in country).

She was in a furnished building in Manly (NSW) about 100 meters down the street from Tony Abbott's constituency office. So, when I got there, I literally was a 110 meter walk to Manly Corso. I saw the Pacific for the first time, and it was unreal . . . compared it to what Santa Monica must have been like BEFORE pot.

I spent a month going twice a week to visit the dog. She lost some real weight, but I must say your quarantine people were incredible. Anyway, I'd take the 30 minute Ferry to Circular Quay, then a 45 minute train ride, followed by a 20 minute taxi. Would spend like 100 AUD each visit, and by like the 3rd visit, after 10 minutes my girl was like 'if you're not taking me home, then piss off'.

Anyway, for when she got out, we rented the 1st floor of a hundred year old Victorian that was right across the street from a 40 meter walk down to Fairlight Beach. Literally, you could open our window and see the inlet to Sydney Harbour from the Pacific.

SO, long story short, we lived in Manly right off the Corso and in Fairlight Beach literally right across from the beach.

After that, the misses went to an exec role at Mountain Designs. We lived in Balmoral (right next to Bulimba). It reminded me of living in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles).

EDIT: Since we're doing dog stories, I'd walk my dog to a dog park in Bulimba surrounded by condos and on the river. She liked this 6 month old bull terrier boy, so much so that she'd get behind him, grab his hips, start acting like she was humping him, and actually make these little frowns like she was a porn star or something. Anyway, people would see this all the time . . . one day, a girl, maybe like 8, walking with her mum sees it and screams 'look mum, they're cuddling'.

I don't typically like remakes of already great movies, but there are a lot of remakes out there that are really good too.
Yeah, I'm not 100% against remakes. I enjoy The Magnificent Seven and A Fistful of Dollars even though they're not as good as the originals, as well as The Departed (it cut out some cheesy parts of the original). "The Thing" was better than the 50's version. But don't ever touch "The Naked Gun". I'll only watch remakes if I hear they're good. I'll never watch the remake of Oldboy, for example.

I think most would feel this way and I couldn't blame them for it. It pretty much kick started those kinds of comedies.

That’s cool. The quarantine is shorter now. I think 10 days (as long as you’ve done the 5 month checks at home).

Never been to Sydney but sounds like you were in a great spot. Been to Brisbane a lot my Dad’s side of the family live there. Just over the other side of the river from Balmoral. I loved it up there. Great weather and so laid back.

 Sounds like a funny and slightly confused dog.

PS good timing with the dollar!

Unfortunately, by the time we left, it was about 0.72 AUD to 1 USD (made the decision easier) . . . :thumbd:

EDIT: And, the girl actually is a sweetheart. My vet nicknamed her 'chill', because moves and trips and inconveniences don't phase her. A few months ago, they clipped her nails and drew blood because she has long quicks. She didn't even flinch. She was raised by my old Frenchie and in a way thinks she's a Frenchie too, and now she's raising our new Frenchie on how to act like a Frenchie.
