Ok, so let's set some ground rules first: "Play bad for Ekblad" and "No heart for Reinhart". :sarcasm:

I know we have plenty of prospect junkies on HF Jets, and I always enjoy following this thread.

Gotta start doing some research early this year.
Added pressure because Trouba made me look smrt.

On a completely unrelated note, anyone have the top 10 prospects names and a hat?

Just some names I've read over at the prospect board, but I've only ever seen Ekblad and Draisatl play, but Aaron Ekblad,Sam Rienhart, William Nylander,Leon Draisatl, Michael Dal Colle,Roland Mckowen, Sam Bennet, Kasperi Kapanen, Anton Karlsson are names off the top of my head that I've seen ranked pretty highly.

Copper and Blue take a weighted average of all the major lists and constructs one "super list" and updates it each month. They call it consensus... which pisses me off because it's an average, not a consensus... but I get angry at minor dumb details :P

The weighting is by historical accuracy of their lists.

I honestly thought you were going to suggest drafting Duchene.
I just felt like thats what I was going to see when I saw you posted.

Lots of Euros on in that first round list. Guess that means Chevy will draft someone projected to go in the second round with our 3rd overall pick? :sarcasm:

Only 4 in the top 15, we should be safe.

EDIT: 5. Somehow skipped over Draisaitl. Really hope we can get him somehow, just looked amazing at the World Juniors. Can't believe he's already 200 pounds too.

I really like these threads because I don't get a chance to see the junior guys as much as other people here do.

Can I make one request? Can we talk about more than the top 5 guys?

So few D highly ranked early, bodes well for us drafting a forward in the first at least..

Though in retrospect I'm obviously very happy with the defencemen we ended up taking.

Honestly I think we should focus on guys from around the 7-8 spot to the late teens as I think that's the most likely place we pick. Plenty of forwards to choose from. Can't fathom us taking a defenseman... again. lol

Yes, but once you establish a culture of losing it can be decades before you turn it around regardless of all the high picks.

I take it you think that's what we're doing? I feel like there's some middle ground that exists between teams with a culture of winning and teams with a culture of losing. Anyway, I already nibbled on the bait enough.

Karlsson seemed to rocket up the C&B rankings compared to truck's list. He's listed at 5'11", 165 and in the updated text it says he's already filled out to 200 lbs. Combine that with a tireless work ethic, good possession traits and good board play and I can see why. So he's my uninformed favourite for the time being!

I think that is phony bologna.

Many teams have had quick turnaround out of a losing culture, the issue is that many in management repeatedly make the same mistakes and cause setback or stick with a mistake for too long.

I'll comment on Ekblad, since I've watched so much of him following Scheifele.

He's really, really good. I don't think I've ever seen as high quality defensive play from a draftee. Perfect positioning, a massive frame (6'4) and a high IQ. Last year I was saying that if he got his offense together, he'd be a star. 7 points through 10 games. Third on his team in points. And he played excellent for Canada internationally.

He's a stud.

Not to sound like a downer. But could that be from steroids? Doesn't steroids cause facial hair? Sure there are people that can grow facial hair at young ages. But not many.

Haven't heard that.
I think it's more likely high testosterone.
I'm going to assume naturally high, but I suppose it could be artificial.
