Kimberley selects coach Viktor Tikhonov.

NO WAY..... really?

VI:

- hyland's resume as a clutch player is a joke, you have posted it before and it mostly includes single game regular season exploits
- there were worse picks than barry beck
-fully agree on marshall and persson, daneyko and liapkin
-hunter: did you mean bottom 6?
-I begrudgingly agree on bain, but he is tough to slot in a lineup
-wtf? Why would oliver and berenson be bad picks in the 530 range?
-hamby shore was usually a really good pick, but by now he has probably risen too far

Indeed.

-hunter: did you mean bottom 6?
All-time he's a 2/3 liner imo. I think he can complement any second line but yeah, a third line he'd dominate.

Berenson is an expansion wonder imo. never been impressed by him.

 There was a time when I dissed BM67's picking or pimping of him. But my readings of hockey history keep informing me of his greatness. There's a lot of good stuff written about him. He pops up often. I hope to draft him in the coming years and do a decent bio. He is legit top-4 role all-time in a 30ish team ATD imo.

I don't understand why you guys don't like the Yuri Liapkin pick. IMO, he was the last credible first unit PP QB available. Sure he probably sucks at even strength, but bury him on te bottom pairing and give him big PP minutes

Dale hunter would easily be the worst 2nd line center in the draft. Very good 4th liner though. And I love John MacLean but on a second line?

Pfft. The Hunter I saw play his whole career rocked any and every first line he played against. Yeah, you could say his 8 seasons of 40-50 assists per doesn't hold up in a top-6 role, but HEAVY MINUTES THIRD LINE he could rock, if not a more intangible role second liner.

Fourth line? Have you seen Dale play? ANY close game and the coach is gonna throw him over the boards. He defines the word competitor! No way he gets fourth line minutes. Third line, okay,... perhaps that's best given his lack of top-10 finishes.

I don't think VanI's really been following the thread if he thinks Beck is one of the worst picks of that round. He was the best defenseman picked in that round, and maybe for a few rounds.

I'm as big a fan of Dale Hunter as you're likely to find here, but he has no business playing on a second line here, and I wouldn't call him a "dominant" 3rd liner, either. Not with guys like Ralph Backstrom and Rod Brind'Amour on third lines here.

I have never drafted Hamby, and this is probably the first time I've ever said anything about him.

If I mixed him up with XXXXX (his long time pairmate undrafted) there are at least two people who could understand how that would be easy to do.

Yeah to be honest VI, I would defend half of my picks there on your "bottom 3 list" but if you really think Dale Hunter is a worthy #2 center, then I really have no words for you.

I specifically took Ruotsaleinan and Van Impe as specialists, and as bottom pairing PP and PK specialists I think they're very strong here in those roles. Plus their games fit together at ES.

I also think I've proven Amonte was pretty close to Bill Guerin at his peak, and does not deserve to drop over 100 spots less than him, even with Guerin's physical edge. Also i proved that Amonte was absolutely better than MacLean, who you said was one of the top picks of theround te round before. Good to see you've been reading the thread though and getting half of your statements incorrect (such as BM67 with Hamby Shore). Good stuff VI, glad you're back.

Well, we're going with Hadfield-Hunter-Tocchet as our fourth line, so if Hunter is a 2nd line C, I think suffice to say we have the best fourth in the draft. :yo:
