The thing is value is based on what other executives around the league think, not temperamental members on HF.

Price's contract sucks, but he's still very well respected around the league. Anchoring your franchise with a high-end goalie and being competitive from the get-go is attractive for a new fanbase and helps the club with marketing and getting people through the gates. Fleury's contract also sucked and was moved because of it, and we all know that Vegas would make that same choice again if they had a chance.

Fleury was 33(Well 32 but almost 33), had a 5.75m cap hit, had 2 years of contract left, his past 4 seasons were 915 920 921 909 in save percentage.

Price will be 34 in august, has a 10.5m cap hit for 5 more seasons after this year, his past 4 seasons including this year are 900 918 909 903 save percentage. Price hasn't been a high end goaltender since about 2015 other than a handful of playoff games. I know that most executives in the NHL are boomers past their prime but I feel like they realise they're building their team for the future, not to be contenders 5 years ago.

Depending on what the plus is . I wouldn't object. Fair proposal.
Since suggesting that trade I've changed my mind. Avs need Graves as he's our only big Dman right now with EJ on LTIR. A pick or prospect makes far more sense for Colorado if they trade for Lehkonen.

What those stats aren't showing you are the teams play in front of either goalie or that Price has been overextended and played too much. However, I'm not disputing Price's numbers, nor am I saying he's worth his contract.

My point was more around Price's reputation and marketability for a new franchise. No one here knows Seattle's direction and what they value and want to build their team around. Even though Price's numbers have been down, somehow he still gets the respect of his peers and gets the nod as the goalie players would least like to face in an elimination game. I get that those statements aren't stats and are subjective, but it shows he's still highly respected around the league and considered a high-end goalie.

Anyways, this is not a Carey Price thread, so I'll leave it at that.

Heiskanen is struggling a bit this year . Maybe a 2021 1st , 2022 2nd , 2021 third , Harris and Armia . I know it’s susposed to be about lehkonen . They can have him to .
