Series isn’t over yet but if they go out in 5 does Shanahan survive. Honestly the Leafs look like they have taken a step back under Treliving so far anyways. Just so f***ikng lifeless. Boston turns over their #1 franchise centre, and their #2 centre……. and…… they just dust it off and somehow play Bruin hockey which is so attractive. So much struture all over the ice. There breakouts and neutral zone transition is just so freaking tight, then without the puck they are constantly taking away time and space in all three zones.

Yesterday was a clinic in domination.
Yes I think Shanahan is done to if they bow out in this series. Changing the makeup of this team will be hard everyone seems to have a NMC or NTC, not impossible but no one is going to give them much for 1 year of Tavares or Marner. Speaking of Tavares he was a massive mistake of a signing, the core of 3 would of been fine and they could of used his 11 M to shore up their D.

The dumping/shit canning of New Jersey Lou a few years ago really messed them up.

This didn’t age well

Dubas really f'd this team and unfortunately for the Leafs Treliving is no better.
Treliving is worse. Dubas’s biggest issue was he was terrible at contract negotiations but past that he’s not as bad as Treliving is

Dubas was fine. Overpaid a couple of guys maybe but the issues weren't necessarily team composition at that point.

Treliving brought in "sandpaper" types that old school hockey people seem to think a team needs to succeed like Domi and Bertuzzi, which, fine, they have a bit of scoring but are generally limited players, and then sign no talent Reaves to a multi year deal - and then he's out there to make a major giveaway on the first Boston goal last night.

The team's problem is that they can't collectively handle the pressure of the playoffs (sound familiar?). Boston is likely just a better team this year and losing to them in the 1st round isn't a disaster in itself, but the team should've won Game 1 but let in early goals in the first and second. They rallied well in Game 2, and then the two games on home ice haven't been good at all.

I could see the Leafs paying Tanev and Bross big money and then LTIR'ing Tavares just before TD to load up

I'm just not enjoying it as much as I should be. It's like looking in a mirror.
Nah, not even close

Leafs collapsing in the first round with the amount of talent and hype on that team is way worse than the Jets losing. Matthews had 69 goals this year ffs... and our 1C was 22nd in scoring at that position

Plus we don't have every national media outlet constantly verbally fellating us 24/7

Leafs hype is the product of SN/TSN and the Toronto media in general who slurp the team from the start of the season and their faithful fall for it each and every year.

So which core is more pathetic? The Leafs or the Jets?

This is going to be very hard to fix. What good GM is going to trade for playoff losers with high salaries?

3 series in a row where Helle is a shadow of his regular season self. Cant handle pressure obviously. Is he even tradeable?

Star forwards non factors. Maybe Connor can still get a decent return because he scores goals in the regular season. Ehlers?

Bad coaching - never fixed the specialty teams in 2 years

Several important players are UFA - they are not going to want to stay with this gong show. They will all look to upgrade to a team that competes in the playoffs.

No 1st round pick.

Best prospect chose to NOT sign.

THIS SUCKS
