God please not

I don't see how that makes sense to set it up as:
Van, Sea, SJ, Ana, LA, LV, SLC, Col
then
Edm, Cal, Win, Min, Chi, Nas, Stl, Dal

Adding SLC/Col really helps out the Cali teams and LV. Not a benefit to Sea/Van

the Central time zone teams probably not keen on swapping SLC/COL for the alberta teams, especially Dal, STL, Nas. Min, Win, maybe Chi not as bad, but american teams prefer american based teams.

you want slc and denver in the same division though. there aren't really any other swaps that make sense. you can't break up the california teams, vancouver/seattle or calgary/edmonton. about all you could do is move winnipeg to the pacific or vegas to the central but both of those are objectively terrible for those teams

As already pointed out, the Coyotes are already in the same division as the Avalanche. No changes need to be made.

Will always be winner/losers when it comes to divisional alignment. Assuming Houston, ATL, AZ get another team and 1 more, that last one would have a major impact. If it's POR/SD you can have a West cost alignment with Sea, Van, LA, Sj, Ana and that one. If not, then some team isn't going to be happy.

If it's say QC, or KC as team 4, how do you handle the PST/MST teams of Van, Sea, SJ, Ana, LA, SLC, Col, LV, AZ Edm, Cal in a 6 by 6 setup? There's only 11 teams. So, 1 CST team would have to join them to get to 12 teams and 2 divisions.

That could be StL or Win as team 12.

Once they expand out to a 34 team league it's going to get weird due to the unevenness of the divisions but for this specific change, nothing needs to be done.

Eventually seems like 36 will be the target. But long time before then.

My Dad keeps saying the same thing. The Trailblazers former owner, Paul Allen, was resolutely against an NHL team . He passed away in 2018 and his sister owns everything now. No word on if her stance has changed or has any interest.

BRING BACK THE ROSEBUDS
I doubt Jody Allen would bring an NHL team to Portland. She's been a part of Vulcan sports for a while. She seems more likely to sell the Blazers than add to the sports portfolio.

I think Portland only lands one of MLB or NHL. And like all possibly locations, with an existing NBA team, it's down to the NBA owner wanting a team or not.

Unless you privately or via another county build another arena in that other county since it makes little sense for a city to greenlight another arena, especially if they have skin in the game of a current one.

36 in a 6x6 set-up with QC:

northwest:
van, sea, edm, cgy, col, wpg

southwest:
la, ana, sj, vgk, phx, slc

midwest:
min, chi, stl, cbj, det, nsh

south:
dal, hou, tbl, fla, car, atl

northeast:
tor, mtl, ott, buf, bos, qc

atlantic:
pit, phi, wsh, nyr, nyi, njd

go back to the old geographical / travel minimizing alignments rather than just on time zone

Not to take away 70 goals or 100 assists from certain guys around the league but Hughes hitting 80 assists would be much more of an impressive feat being that only 3 other defenseman have ever hit 80 or more assists, 10 times. Frustrates me nobody talks about this.

Hughes will never get the respect he deserves. He is a top 5 player in the league, I don’t care what anyone says.
