Is there any talk that the league will put an end to this bullshit of bloated over-the-cap rosters for playoffs?
Unlikely. That would also kill TDL activity.

Rittch and Hill gotta start the next games
Yeah. People are saying Oettinger was bad, but Thompson was far worse. Shouldn't even have been close. The Marchment goal was something an 8 year old with a baseball glove is expected to catch 99/100 times.

Every time Thompson moved side-to-side at all, he literally resembled Swiss cheese. Massive holes everywhere, under the arms, over the arms, gaping five-hole. He's not compact. Dallas is going to light him up G2.

that requires CBA renegotiations. the league can ask for it but the players will demand concession for it and it's probably not worth it for the league.

Bieksa was laying on the sarcasm pretty good about Stone’s return yesterday, too. You could ditch every other member of that panel and just have Bieksa talk by himself and it would be better.

Put Bieksa and Subban together and it's be one of the best panels in the last decade. It really goes to show how much personality helps. What baffles me is why the NHL hasn't copied literally every other league that does this. Half the draw for new fans is getting noteworthy personal to talk about it.

Ron Maclean is basically this:

PA is a hard stance to take. Players would like to get traded to good teams, but there's also those on other clubs who have to play a more stacked team. Not much different than the PA defending a player during a suspension hearing.

LTIR was meant to give teams a chance to replace a player. but, unless that player missed the entire season, you didn't make a big move because you didn't have cap room to reactive that player before the season ended.

Agree with Hill. I think LA is f***ed no matter what, Rittich has been lit up by the Oilers before

As they said on the morning show today, you can't play the 1-3-1 when McDavid is already past you before you even start standing around trying to clog up the neutral zone.

No love for the Oilers, but good to see the Kings abhorrent style of hockey absolutely dummied in the playoffs so we don't have to watch it anymore.

The league will still make the necessary changes. You don’t think PA loved those 10 year cap circumvention contracts where players could get paid $10M for the first half of the contract and end up a $6M AAV since they’d retire before the last 2-3 years when they’d make peanuts? It basically artificially raised the cap, that was amazing for the PA

Agree with this..I'm equally not a fan of either team, but at least the Oilers play an attacking style of hockey. No way should the 1-3-1 be rewarded.

Feel like it's hard to draw too many conclusions after Game 1 for all of these series. It's how the team that is down 1-0 responds/adjusts that will give you a sense of what way the wind is blowing.

Rob Blake has done a tremendously bad job at eroding the depth on that team. Vilardi, Durzi, Iafallo, Walker...for PLD.

They were better off in 2022 but simply have zero depth in their forward group and have a rather soft and crappy blueline.

LA Kings fans want sweeping changes but any retool or rebuild may not be possible for a few years.

Edmonton dummied the Kings in game 1 but everyone is writing off LA a bit early. I think it will go 6 or 7 games - those powerplay backdoor tap ins we probably won't see the rest of the series. If Draisaitl hits that shot with any consistency it's nighty night in 4 or 5 games but that's an insane shot, even for Draisaitl.

I've decided not to visit the Oiler OOT anymore. It's giving me a false sense of what Oiler fans are like. I mean those guys are deluded I'm happy for most Oiler fans that are just like us and livenand breathe hockey.

still remember how LA was this model franchise like 1 year ago on this message board. How they have a bright future while the canucks were doomed.

Their team is still dependent on old Kopitar and Doughty- Its not easy replacing them.

Teams can go decades before they can actually draft players of those caliber.

Even if you reverse that PLD trade (its horrible), and add those pieces back, canucks still have the brighter future. Our core is younger/better.

Agree with both, thompson and talbot both looked so bad just can't start them again the next game, even if its just rest for talbot.
But Hill is atleast going to stop the beer league shots.

Colorado seemed to get it, georgiev aint it, call up the rookie it can't be much worse.
