http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=888783Dave Cameron joins the Flames after spending the past six seasons with the Ottawa Senators, most recently as their head coach the last two campaigns, while Paul Jerrard comes to Calgary after serving as an assistant coach for Vancouver’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Utica Comets.
Some signings:
Flames sign tkachuk to an ELC
Jake Allen signs a 4 x 4.35AAV deal with the Blues
Senators sign Chris Kelly 1 x 900k.
Hawks sign Tootoo 1 x 750 k
Jets sign Perrault 4 x 4.125 M...three straight seasons over 40 points (52 P/82 pace)
Devils sign Palmieri 5 x 4.65 M...30 goals last year and 57 points. Year before a 20 goal 40 point pace. 25 years old.
That Jake Allen deal is solid. He took big strides last year. Was it last year or the year before when we absolutely shredded him? I think it was two years ago when we still had Lack.
Hey Chris Kelly is back. Him and Neil can ride the 4th-line/bench into retirement together.
He's very good. But what is St. Louis's plan with their goalies? Because they have Elliot there doing the same. Are they still going 50/50 with them?
They traded Elliott to the Flames at the draft.
Bet the Ducks are regretting letting Palmieri go.
Leafs pay Bernier 2 mill in bonus this July 1 then dump him for nothing. Couldn't imagine the fauxrage around here if that happened.
Ducks acquire Bernier from the Leafs. There goes a potential destination for Miller at the deadline. :/
I guess Bernier would make an OK backup. As a starter he's been absolutely AWFUL.
Wildly inconsistent, cannot hold the line when the situation really calls for it, always let in soft goals. Just a terrible terrible goal keeper.

He was very good in his first season in Toronto (.923 save % in 55 games for a non-playoff team with a terrible defense) but has really seemed to lose confidence and had technique breakdowns since then.
This trade wasn't made in isolation. It's a continuation of the Andersen deal – it's just that Toronto was to shoulder the bonus.Leafs pay Bernier 2 mill in bonus this July 1 then dump him for nothing. Couldn't imagine the fauxrage around here if that happened.
Crap. I hope Bernier doesn't have a bounce back year. My hockey pool really needs Gibson to run with the starting job.
I'd bet he does...
He's a better goalie than he could be for the marlies
