Slavin looked decent last year in AHL but didn't do much in NHL with Hawks

Then he fell off badly this season

Have no clue on this Duck guy but does he have any NHL upside?

Don’t think so, just like Slavin Drew had a much better AHL season last year than this year. Also he’s been moved to forward full time despite what your writer said

Drew is primarily a forward now who will do some enforcing, has a great shot, but just can't skate at all.

Got a bomb from the point, has grit & was placed playing forward in a checking role because of it, even though he's a defenceman. Not much upside but he's a good locker room guy.

Taking the Ducks poster at face value, the ducks win this. Slavin wasn’t awful in his chgo time last year. Could be bottom 6 - 4th liner if he gets it together. I think this might be a trade to wake both guys up but more so from the Slavin end.
Davidson has shown in the past to move guys who aren’t in his NHL plans to give them a shot somewhere else.
He does very much normally favor good skater - high energy guys. So I’m surprised at who the Hawks got back. A slow skating fighter is not his MO.
