Thomas had a very overrated year, which is why I don't understand when people say stuff like the obvious POY. He really wasn't, he benefited a lot from recency bias winning the most recent major, and having a very good playoffs, but on the whole, he was third in the most fair measure of performance during the year. There goes the narrative. And actually, I'd have given him POY after his finish to the playoffs when you consider the win totals of all those in contention and which tournaments they won, but I didn't like that it was supposedly so obvious, it really wasn't. He fell well short to the others in consistency, and it reflected in the OWGR points. The media arbitrarily decided which off-season events counted towards the award, which also makes little sense. Really none of them should count, if we are to be completely fair.
