This makes no sense. JT should have crushed it.

OWGR system is a mess. I vote we let Nosferatu redesign it.

Thomas had a very overrated year, which is why I don't understand when people say stuff like the obvious POY. He really wasn't, he benefited a lot from recency bias winning the most recent major, and having a very good playoffs, but on the whole, he was third in the most fair measure of performance during the year. There goes the narrative.

And actually, I'd have given him POY after his finish to the playoffs when you consider the win totals of all those in contention and which tournaments they won, but I didn't like that it was supposedly so obvious, it really wasn't. He fell well short to the others in consistency, and it reflected in the OWGR points. The media arbitrarily decided which off-season events counted towards the award, which also makes little sense. Really none of them should count, if we are to be completely fair.

What does that have to do with what I stated?

His year was very good, but how the media made him into the obvious POY makes little sense.

He won 6 times from October 23 YTD. How is that overrated year? Take out POY debate that is phenomenal. Tiger has spoiled us into thinking many win seasons is normal. 6 wins is a ton and that is insane.

Ryder Cup gonna be good. We've been too arrogant of late, gotta have some players emerge. Need Berger, Cantlay, Schauffele, Hossler to step up to make it a good match. Not listed, Pat Reed, but its the Ryder Cup, so its an expectation that he will step up.

Pat Perez will lead USA to victory!

I hope none of those guys make it.

Spieth, Thomas, Johnson, Reed, Fowler, Berger, Koepka, Tiger, Phil, Cantlay, Schauffele, Hossler. If Hossler doesn't elevate his game and be a ROY contender, take someone like Kuchar or Kisner. No Pat Perez or Charley Hoffman.

This might be hard, but if you can complete it try to. I was listening to this on Morning Drive this morning, and I found it very interesting.

Think up an ultimate 18 hole course using golf holes from any course you want that people know about. Don't use a hole from a club you belong to that no one's heard of. Only use 2 holes per course, make the par and yardage realistic, and you gotta place the holes in order of where they fit on their course. If you take hole 10 at St. Andrews, gotta be your 10th hole. If you take hole 5 at Augusta, gotta be your fifth hole.

What does your ultimate 18 look like?

Easy

Sort famous Hole #1s by Difficulty, then choose the hardest.

Repeat 18 times.

Then add wind and hope we get a scoring average above 80.

So, basically the US Open.

You can only pick 1 hole 1, 1 hole 2, 1 hole 3. Its pretty difficult. I'm trying to do it now, lets see if I finish before I have to leave.

Par 70

1. Oakmont Par 4-482
2. Muirfield Par 4-367
3. Oakmont Par 4-428
4. Royal St. George's Par 4-496
5. Royal Birkdale Par 4-346
6. Carnoustie Par 5-578
7. Shinnecock Par 3-189
8. Pebble Beach Par 4-428
9. Turnberry Par 3-248
10. Winged Foot Par 3-190
11. Augusta Par 4-505
12. Merion Par 4-403
13. Royal Birkdale Par 4-499
14. Muirfield Par 4-478
15. Augusta Par 5-530
16. Carnoustie Par 3-248
17. St. Andrews Par 4-495
18. Olympic Club Par 4-344=Total of 7254

I only included major venues, 9 from the USA, 9 from Britain. Try breaking 80. I definitely squeezed a few courses here not including their signature holes, but its hard, so I tried to take an approach where the best all around golf courses filled in where needed, and the courses that have some great holes get preference. I also made it somewhat fair. There are 3 or 4 birdie holes, besides the two par 5's, its just that the rest of the holes are so hard you will probably shoot 10 over on the other 12 holes.

Also, good ****ing luck surviving those par 3 holes lol.

200+ yard carry across the ocean at Mauna Kea.

Kauri Cliffs is basically heaven on Earth.

Augusta's 12th will mind**** you.

Cypress Point is another 200+ yard carry over the ocean and will mind**** you at the same time.

We only had two of the same holes. 8th at Pebble and the Road Hole.

Solid 18. Carnoustie and Turnberry slipped my mind somewhat when putting together my list.

I didn't put too much thought into the difficulty of mine but went for a combination of iconic courses, well designed holes and tried to combine that with the odd scenic locale.

The only birdie holes I'd say would be the two par 5's, Spyglass, Pebble, Riviera's 10th, Augusta's par 3 12th perhaps and I guess Shadow Creek. A lot of it would depend on pin location too however.

16th hole should be The Olympic Club. Good lists otherwise. Not a fan of 8th at Pebble personally.

After you watch the Open Championship next year, I think you'll change your mind.

Tom Watson called it the toughest Par 3 in the world. 250 yard par 3, usually into the wind. Green is long but narrow and falls off on all sides, five green side bunkers.

To me, Olympic is a quality course, but its actual holes don't match up as golf holes to some of the best. More so that the USGA them up ridiculously hard. I think its the same thing with Pebble Beach.

Olympic Club is one of my favorites. Hope that we get another US Open there before I die.

The 8th at Pebble is kind of a love it or hate it hole I find. If set up properly, it's one of the more enjoyable risk/reward holes in golf for me. I really haven't paid much attention to how it's set up for professional events since 2010 though so maybe they've ruined everything good about the hole.

Scrapping the viewer call in is a good move I think. Though it can just be window dressing because someone can still call in, and they can say "a ruler official saw it and we are just going public now".

I always wonder what number people were calling. How do they get a hold of a rules official?
