Hi everyone,
So this isn't something that's easy to do and it's something I've been thinking about for awhile now, not just in the past few weeks but maybe in the last few months, a little bit longer than that. As some of you may know from my time on here, in addition to running COTP + the @fla_prospects account, I'm also a full-time college student and I also have a job on the side where I work about 20-25 hrs per week.
I started COTP in my first year of college - where I'm somewhat surprisingly not majoring in journalism - as a hobby, and since then, it's been relatively easy to handle the workload while also running 2 Twitter accounts, a website, and keeping all 3 up to date with articles, GIFs, etc.
I've always enjoyed doing this...I have loved covering the team I love for the past 3+ years and I've had a lot of fun, but as I get deeper into my curriculum and closer to the things I need to focus more on to hopefully be successful in the future, especially since I'll be graduating in less than a year, both school and covering the team have taken their focus away from each other, so I've had to choose one or the other.
I admire anyone who works in journalism because it's time-consuming, there's no doubt about it, none of it is as easy as it may seem. Whenever I do something, I want it to be complete, be presentable, and look good, etc, so, in my opinion, it wouldn't be right to cover a game here and there, do an article once every few months, etc; I'd rather do it, or not do it at all. It wouldn't be fair to the people who rely on good coverage of the team.
So enough about my life, I just wanted to say that for now, I'm going to be putting COTP on hold, and I say 'on hold' because I do hope to eventually circle back around with some new ideas in terms of the site itself, but that's still a little bit down the road...hopefully if/when I get there, HFBoards and Twitter will still be here to tell everyone about it.
Matt DeFranks and Jameson Olive have done an unreal job - better than I could ever do - of covering the team and I'll be following them along with you (as I have been since even before I started COTP). I'll still be around the forums just like I always have been, watching every game, interacting with everyone, and I'll be on Twitter at @brett_0, although I don't really tweet from there much, maybe I can throw some things out there every now and then.
Also, I would like to thank everyone for following and reading what I've had to say on the site and Twitter. Couldn't have made it 3 years without everyone liking, retweeting, bashing, complaining - and most importantly - caring about this team.
Edit: I'm going to be announcing this on Twitter soon as well so everyone on there knows too.
